Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Animals- Siberian tigers are mainly found in Russia. What other two countries can they be found?

Answer: China and North Korea

These gorgeous creatures are the world's largest cats and are an endangered species where only less than five hundred can be found in the wild. They can weigh up to three hundred kg.
2. Brain Teasers- What capital city can be found in the following sentence? This is the shawl I made earlier.

Answer: Lima

Lima is the capital of Peru. It is the largest city in Peru with a population of nearly nine million. Michael Bond was the author of "Paddington Bear" who came from darkest Peru and always loved his marmalade sandwiches!
3. Celebrities- What was Victoria's surname before she married David Beckham?

Answer: Adams

Victoria Adams shot to fame with the Spice Girls in 1994. She married David Beckham in 1999.
4. For Children- Who wrote the books about "The Famous Five and "The Secret Seven"?

Answer: Enid Blyton

Enid Blyton was born in 1897 and died in 1968. My personal favourites were the school series, "Malory Towers" and "St Clare's".
5. General- What is the birthstone for January?

Answer: Garnet

Amethyst is the birthstone for February, Peridot is the birthstone for August while Tourmaline is the birthstone for October. Garnet can come in a number of varieties and colours although red is the most common.
6. Geography- What is the capital of Lithuania?

Answer: Vilnius

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania, Riga is the capital of Latvia. Istanbul is in Turkey while Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia. Lithuania was the first (former) Soviet republic to declare independence in 1990.
7. Hobbies- What would be your total points in Scrabble if you started the game with the word "zymurgy" with the letter "z" on a double letter score?

Answer: 120

Scrabble is one of my favourite board games and I would love to have a start like that! Since the "z" is on a double letter score, the "z" is worth 20, if you add up the rest of the word it gives you a total of 35. Being the first word of the game it automatically gets doubled and because it is a seven letter word you automatically receive 50 points which gives you a total of 120!

Zymurgy is a branch of chemistry which deals with fermentation processes.
8. Literature- What is Hercule Poirot's address?

Answer: 56B Whitehaven Mansions

Sherlock Holmes lived at 221B Baker Street (the other two don't exist). Out of the actors who have played Poirot, David Suchet is my favourite and my favourite mystery featuring Poirot is "The ABC Murders". His saying, "my little grey cells" is absolutely brilliant!
9. Sports- In which German town was Michael Schumacher born?

Answer: Hurth

Michael Schumacher was born on the 3rd of January 1969. He started his Formula 1 career with Jordan before moving to Bennetton in 1991. He moved to Ferrari in 1996 and was with them until 2006 when he stopped racing although he did stay on with Ferrari as an advisor. He came back to race for Mercedes in 2010 and he retired for a second time at the end of the 2012 season.
10. World- How many colours are there in the Jamaican flag?

Answer: 3

The Jamaican flag consists of 3 colours which are black, green and it also has a yellow Saltire cross. Jamaica is well-known for producing brilliant sprinters like Usain Bolt and Johan Blake.
