1. What is the state motto of California?

Answer: Eureka

Eureka is the state motto of California. It means "I have found it".
2. What is the interval between two acts of a theatrical performance?

Answer: Entr'acte

The Entr'acte is to the second act, what the overture is to Act I. Entr'acte means "between acts".
3. In French, to make the passé composé most verbs require a form of "avoir" and a past participle. Some verbs require another verb instead of "avoir." What is that verb?

Answer: etre

"Etre" is used with reflexive verbs and Dr. & Mrs. Vandertramp verbs. These verbs include: devenir (to become), retourner (to return), mourir (to die), rentrer (to reenter), sortir (to go out), venir (to come), arriver (to arrive), naître (to be born), descendre (to go down), entrer (to enter), revenir (to come back), tomber (to fall), rester (to rest), aller (to go), monter (to go up) and partir (to leave).

"Ennuyer" and "envoyer" both take avoir not etre. Ennuyer means to bore and envoyer means to send.
