Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these prizes is awarded for a different type of creative endeavor than the others?

Answer: Tony

When new theatrical productions come out in London, they sometimes advertise them as being the 'Winner of 15 Tony awards' or similar. I don't know why, since most people in Britain won't know what a Tony award is. The other 3 are of course film awards.
2. If you were on 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire', which of the following would you be most disappointed to receive, as per 2002 exchange rates?

Answer: 1 million Turkish lira

1 million Turkish lira is worth about 50p (UK). The others are all about 10,000 UK pounds.
3. What race track hosted the British Grand Prix from 1987 until the end of the 20th Century?

Answer: Silverstone

Can't say I'm a fan of Formula 1 myself - to me it just seems like a lot of men driving cars round a track. Maybe I'm missing something.
4. As of April 2002, which was the only side other than Manchester United and Arsenal to win the English premier league?

Answer: Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn won the trophy in 1995, and were relegated a couple of seasons later. Liverpool and Leeds haven't won the premiership, although they won the old football league in the early 90's. Tottenham haven't won the league since the 1950's, and probably never will again (according to their own management).
5. Which green duck had the catchprase 'Do I get a prize?'?

Answer: orville

Non-UK players may not have come across Keith Harris and his cuddly friend Orville. The disadvantage of this is that they won't be able to answer this question. The only disadvantage.
6. The initiator of the Nobel prize also invented what?

Answer: Dynamite

Unfortunately I suspect I will never win a Nobel prize, as they don't give them for the things I'm good at. There's a Nobel prize for chemistry, literature, physics, but no Nobel prize for eating KitKats.
7. The 'Territorian Lottery' claims to have, if not the biggest lottery prize, at least the biggest lottery tickets. In which country is it located?

Answer: Australia

A bit of an odd claim to fame. Apparently the tickets show scenes of the Northern Territory.
8. The 4 'Grand Slam' tennis events are of course the US Open, Wimbledon, the Australian Open and the French Open. How many of them have equal prize money for the winners of the men's and women's tournaments?

Answer: 2

The Australian and US Opens have equal prizes - Wimbledon and the French Open don't. I'm expressing no opinion as I don't like to get involved in controversial debates.
9. I've only ever won 2 prizes in my life, a five pound gift voucher from 'Wow' Comic when I was 6, and a Sky satellite dish. Name the multi-multi-millionaire who owns Sky.

Answer: Rupert Murdoch

I'm not going to say anything about Rupert Murdoch as he is too powerful and he scares me.
10. Which programme awarded the 'Flying fickle finger of fate'?

Answer: Laugh-in

I watched this show when I was little, although I can't remember for the life of me what the 'Flying fickle finger of fate' was.
