Answer: USA

The massacre took place near St. Augustine in modern Florida. The word 'Matanzas' means slaughter in Spanish.
2. In Elizabethan times what was kept in a pomander?

Answer: Herbs/ spices

It was carried by the well-to-do to mask the smells from the filthy streets and b.o. from the unwashed citizens.
