Crosby played the role of Father Chuck O'Malley who is assigned to a poor, rundown parish. The young Irish priest has to overcome the objections of a cantankerous old priest set in his ways and hold off the parish's mortgage holder in order to save and revive Saint Dominic's.

The priest organizes a group of streetwise boys into a choir who uses their talents to save the day. The film won seven Academy Awards including Crosby's Academy Award for Best Actor.
