Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, better known as Caligula, definitely had quite the fall from grace. When first named Emperor, Caligula was received with high praise and shouts of joy. Soon after, he fell ill with what some claimed to be a type of brain fever, and from that point on things got a little sketchy.

There are reports he tried to deify himself as a god and that he forced his relatives to commit suicide. In the end he was assassinated by members of his own guard.

"Twelve Angry Men" was first written by Rose for a CBS live television production. The next year he adapted it for the stage and the big screen. The movie "12 Angry Men" was directed by Sidney Lumet and was released in 1957. The story tells of jurors brought together to decide on the fate of a man based on reasonable doubt.

The story has been adapted many times, and when I was in high school I played a part in "Twelve Angry Women".

The Twelfth, or Orangefest, is observed on July 12 each year, primarily in Northern Ireland. It is celebrated with parades, bonfires and merriment. The Twelfth originated after the Battle of Aughrim, the conclusive battle of the Williamite War in Ireland. The fight was very bloody, with over 7,000 casualties and signaled the end of Jacobitism in the country.

The 10 Heavenly Stems and 12 Earthly Branches are a way that the Chinese note the passing of time. The Earthly Branches were based on the planet Jupiter's orbit. There are animals assigned to each of the 12 Earthly Branches, such as a rat, a snake or a dog. The Chinese also assign an element (fire, water, metal, etc.) to each Branch.

Directed by Terry Gilliam, the movie "12 Monkeys" depicts the world in 2035, after a deadly virus overtakes the land and forces humans to go underground to survive. Bruce Willis's character, James Cole, is a convicted criminal who seeks a pardon. But to do this, he must travel back in time to find information about the virus's beginnings.

He is aided by a doctor (Stowe) and the insane son of a wealthy virus scientist (Pitt). This science fiction thriller grossed over $160 million worldwide, and Brad Pitt was nominated for Best Supporting Actor by the Academy Awards.

Magnesium (chemical symbol Mg) is the ninth most abundant element within our entire Universe, possibly due to the fact that it forms easily in supernova stars. Magnesium is essential to the human body, with its ions playing a role in DNA. It helps keep our hearts, nerves and immune systems healthy. We can increase our magnesium intake by eating foods rich in chlorophyll, such as the bright green vegetable spinach. Nuts and whole grains are also a good source of magnesium.

"Twelfth Night" follows Viola, a girl who fears her twin brother Sebastian was killed in the shipwreck that leads her to Illyria, the setting of the play. She soon finds herself pretending to be a page in the service of Duke Orsino, who secretly falls in love with her, but because he thinks she is a boy he uses her to get the hand of Lady Olivia. Viola's brother shows up and comedy ensues.

In the end Sebastian pairs up with Olivia and Viola weds Duke Orsino.

Strange as it may seem, December will always start on the same day of the week that September did. In the Northern Hemisphere, December is the month with the shortest days. In the Southern Hemisphere it is just the opposite, as it is summer there. The flowers for December are holly or narcissus and the birthstones are turquoise or zircon. Important December dates include World AIDS Day (December 1), the solstice (dates vary), Christmas and New Year's Eve.

Although the FBI has called the Majestic 12 bogus, many people believe that there really was such a committee formed to help cover up alien happenings around the United States, especially the purported alien crash near Roswell, New Mexico in July of 1947. Documents were unearthed naming many high ranking officials as members of the Majestic 12, such as the first CIA director, military officials and scientists. Whether you believe or not, this is a fun subject to look into further.
