Symphony Tower appears to be the tallest building in downtown San Diego because it is on a hill, but it is one foot shorter than One American Plaza at 499 feet!
7. If there is a string stretched all the way around the world (approximately 25,000 miles long), how much additional string would be necessary to make it hover 1" above the earth's surface?

Answer: 6.28 inches

That's right. Only 6.28 inches. Here is the math: the formula is Circumference C = 2(pi)r= (pi)d where d is the diameter, r is the radius and pi is 3.14. therefore, d addition is 2" (1" on each side of the world) and 2" x pi is 6.28".
8. Who was the World Chess Champion from 1960 to 1961?

Answer: Mikhail Tal

Botvinnik was World Chess Champion from 1958-1960. He lost the title to Tal in 1960 and regained it in 1961. Since 1866, half of the World Chess Champions have come from Russia or the USSR.
9. How many countries are in the Commonwealth (formally known as the British Commonwealth)?

Answer: 53

The Commonwealth is an association of nations and dependencies that were once part of the the former British Empire. The British monarch is the symbolic head of the Commonwealth.
10. According to Douglas Adams, what is the answer to the "Meaning of Life, the Universe and Everything?"

Answer: 42

The trilogy of "The Hitchhikers Guide to Universe" in five volumes is a hilarious set of books by the late Douglas Adams.
