Camels have two upper eyelids and two rows of eyelashes which assist in stopping sand blowing into their eyes! And, apparently, milk from a Camel does not curdle (or maybe this is just an urban myth)! Many animals have a 'third' eyelid called the nictitating membrane which comes in from the side!

The last man executed in the Tower of London was a German spy, Josef Jakobs. The execution took place on 14 August 1941. He couldn't stand because he had a broken ankle from when he parachuted into England on 31 January and, because he couldn't stand for the firing squad, he was sat in an old Windsor chair!

The Cullinan diamond is the largest gem-quality diamond ever found at just over 3,100 carats. It was discovered in 1905, and named after Thomas Cullinan, Chairman of the Premier Mine in South Africa. The Cullinan Diamond was cut up into nine large diamonds and over ninety smaller ones.

The largest are in the British Crown Jewels. The Taylor-Burton diamond (69 carats) was originally known as the Cartier diamond (Cartier Inc. paid $1,050,000 at auction for the gem). Richard Burton bought the stone for Elizabeth Taylor and it was renamed the Taylor-Burton diamond.

In 1978 Elizabeth Taylor sold the diamond to build a hospital in Botswana. The Centenary diamond was found on 17 July 1986 and after cutting weighed just under 274 carats. The owners of the Centenary diamond, De Beers, had it insured for around $100 million.

The Condé diamond is also known as the Condé Pink or Le Grand Condé and is a light pink diamond of just over 9 carats.
