1. The ancient city of Petra is located in which country?

Answer: Jordan

Petra, meaning rock, was the capital of the Nabataeans who ruled this area. The city was extensively occupied from about 500 BC to 500 AD and contains many beautiful tombs. In 106 AD, Petra and its territory became a Roman province.
2. What is the official language of Aruba?

Answer: Dutch

Although originally claimed for Spain, Aruba has been a territory of the Netherlands since the 1600s.
3. Who once claimed to have over 200 Nehru jackets in his collection?

Answer: Sammy Davis Jr.

This jacket was named for the first prime minister of an independent India. The fad only lasted a few years during the late 1960's.

In 1999 the Peace prize went to Charles Fourie, a South African inventor who devised instant justice for would-be car-jackers. The driver merely depresses a foot pedal and flame-throwers incinerate anyone standing beside the car. According to the local police this device is perfectly legal.

In 2001 the prize went to an imitation Stalin-era labor camp complete with barracks and martial music blaring from loudspeakers in Lithuania. The 2000 prize went to the British Royal navy when sailors were ordered to stop using live shells for practice and instead just shout "bang!".

The 1993 Peace prize went to Pepsi-Cola of the Phillipines who sponsored a contest to award the winner a million dollars. Sadly, when they announced the wrong winning number, a riot ensued among some 800,000 contestants.

Her brother William was the astronomer who discovered Uranus. She worked closely with her brother as an assistant and eventually became recognized as an authority on astronomy. For her achievements, she was awarded a pension by George III of England and made an honorary member of two scientific societies.
8. Forastero, Criollo, and Trintario are the three main varieties of what food crop?

Answer: cacao

Forastero is the most widely cultivated variety making up an estimated 90% of production. Criollo is the rarest and considered the finest variety. Trintario is a cross between Forastero and Criollo.
9. In the year 2000 "Son of Beast" achieved world fame as what?

Answer: fastest wooden roller coaster

This ride opened in 2000 at Kings Island amusement park near Cincinnati Ohio. Top speed is 78.4 mph
10. Troglodytes originated in ________.

Answer: Ethiopia

Remains of their cave dwellings can still be seen along the Nile. Ancient sources also place them in Syria and Arabia. The term is derived from the Greek, trog'le (cave) and duo(to get into).
