Annie Taylor (1838-1921) was an American schoolteacher who on her 63rd birthday (October 24, 1901) became the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel. She had planned the event for financial reasons but sadly did not make the money she had expected.
Patricia McCormick (1929-2013) is thought to be the first female in North America to be a bullfighter. She fought in 300 corridas in Central and South America and was gored on six occasions. Her bullfighting years were from 1951-1962.
Louise Brown was the first test tube baby, born in Lancastershire, England in 1978.
Raymonde de Laroche (1882-1919) born in Paris, France and was the first female in the world to receive an aeroplane pilot's licence in 1910.
2. How did William Hewlett and David Packard decide on the name Hewlett-Packard(HP)?

Answer: By the toss of a coin

The name was decided on the toss of a coin and instead of Packard-Hewlett it became Hewlett-Packard. Packard is the older of the two by about nine months. Packard (1912-1996) and Hewlett (1913-2001). They started their partnership in a one-car garage in Palo Alto, California in 1939. The garage is now a museum.

Wilhelm Steinitz became the first World Chess Champion. In 1886 the first five games were played in New York City, the next four in St. Louis, and the final eleven games were played in New Orleans.
Charles Blondin became the first man to cross Niagara Falls on a tightrope (1824).
Count de Grisley became the first magician to perform the trick of sawing a woman in half (1799).
Johannes Zukertort was beaten by Steinitz 10-5 in the 20th game with five draws in the 1886 World Chess Championship.

Camels were first brought to Australia in the mid 1800s for purposes of transport and exploration in the dry interior of the country. Due to modern transport technology in the 1900s they became obsolete and were let out into the desert. It is estimated at one time there were over one million feral (domesticated camels living in the wild) camels in Australia. Over the years there was a culling program that has reduced the population by more than half. In 2017 it was estimated that there were nearly 1,000 wild camels in north west China and Mongolia. Australia exports camels to Saudi Arabia.

Frank Hayes (1888-1923) was a jockey who had never won a race but on June 4, 1923 he rode Sweet Kiss to victory; he suffered a heart attack during the race but managed to stay in the saddle to the finish line. The race was at Belmont Park in New York State, USA. It is the only recorded time that a jockey has won a race after death.
7. Who was the first US President to be born in a hospital?

Answer: Jimmy Carter

James Earl Carter Jr. was born on October 1, 1924 at the Wise Clinic in Plains, Georgia. He became the 39th US President from 1977-1981.
Martin Van Buren (1782-1862) was the first US President to be born as a US citizen and not a British subject. The first seven Presidents were born in British colonies.
James Buchanan was the 15th US President (1857-1861) and the first and to date the only US President that remained a bachelor.
Richard Nixon (1913-1994) was the 37th US President and the first to resign while in office.

Answer: Penguin

A penguin known as "Sir Nils Olaf" is the "colonel-in-chief" of the Norwegian King's Guard. He resides in the Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland. When the zoo opened in 1923 the Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen, the first man to reach the South Pole, presented the zoo with a king penguin. The Norwegian King's Guard attended the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and adopted a penguin. The penguin is named after King Olaf V of Norway.
9. Which is the only letter in the alphabet that does not appear in the name of any of the states in the USA?

Answer: Q

No US state has the letter Q in its name. X is in New Mexico and Texas, while Z is in Arizona and B is in Alabama and Nebraska.
10. How many eyelids does a camel have?

Answer: 3

A camel has three eyelids and two of the eyelids have eye lashes. This is to protect the eye from sand and the third eyelid serves as a wiper to clean the eyes. This third eyelid closes and opens from side to side.
