Finn was having trouble with the Scottish giant Benandonner, and an enraged Finn built a causeway to go and teach Benandonner a lesson. However Benandonner was massive and Finn beat a hasty retreat. He was followed by Benandonner only to be saved by his quick-thinking wife, Oonagh, who disguised him as a baby.

When Benandonner saw the baby he decided if the child was that big, the daddy must be really huge. He too retreated tearing up the causeway as he went leaving it as we see it today.
