The Severn is the longest river in England and Wales. It is 220miles (354km) long from Ceredigion in Wales to the Bristol Channel. Gloucester is the largest town by population it runs through - 125,000 at the 2011.
2. Thames

5. Wye
Answer: Hereford
For much of its 134 miles (215km) length, the Wye forms the border between England and Wales. The source is in Wales and it enters the Severn Estuary near Chepstow. Hereford is the largest settlement, with a population of about 59,000 at the 2011 Census.
6. Tay
Answer: Perth
The Tay is Scotland's longest river at 117 miles (188km). Starting off in the mountains of western Scotland, it flows east and then south-east to the Firth of Tay on the east coast. Perth has a population of about 58,000. Note: in case you are wondering why I did not suggest Dundee, which has a larger population, I plead quiz-writers' licence in that Dundee is on the Tay estuary and the river does not actually flow through it.
7. Clyde
Answer: Glasgow
The River Clyde is 109 miles (176km) long and flows from southern Lanarkshire to the Firth of Clyde on the west coast. Glasgow is Scotland's most populated city with 600,000 residents in 2015 according to Scottish government figures.

Flowing from Loch Spey in the Scottish Highlands, the river is 107 miles (172k) long and flows north-easterly to the Moray Firth. Aviemore had a population of 2,800 at the 2011 Census. It is one of Scotland's most important winter sports towns.
