In 1862 there was a famous gold robbery that occurred at Eugowra - about its only claim to fame - when bushranger Frank Gardiner and his men ambushed the Forbes gold escort.

Close to the Strathbogie Ranges, Euroa was where Ned Kelly and his gang pulled off one of their most daring robberies, at Faithfull Station.

Eucla is in Western Australia, only 13 km from the South Australia border and even closer to the Great Australian Bight.

The first prawning port in Australia, Evans Head was settled in 1877. Fishing is still its largest industry, along with tourism and dairy farming.
