5. Parent is in good health

Answer: Motherwell

Motherwell is a large town in Lanarkshire which was a major steel-making centre until the early 1990s. Service industries have since replaced most of the lost jobs in the area.
6. Divide country

Answer: Sunderland

Sunderland is a city located at the mouth of the River Wear. Formerly in County Durham, the city is now part of the Tyne & Wear metropolitan county. Until the 1980s, shipbuilding and coal-mining dominated the local economy, but, in the early 21st century, car manufacturing and service industries predominate.

Please note that Cleveland, which could conceivably fit the clue, is not a town or city in the UK.(There was a council area with this name in the Middlesbrough area between 1974 and 1996.)
7. Scarlet trench

8. Jacket crossing

Answer: Coatbridge

Coatbridge is a town in Lanarkshire, a few miles east of Scotland's largest city, Glasgow. Coal-mining and iron works dominated the local economy for many decades, but, with the decline of these heavy industries, the town's proximity to the motorway network have led to it becoming Scotland's inland container base.
9. Gathering of witches attempt

Answer: Coventry

A coven is a term used for a gathering of at least three witches.
Coventry is a large city, historically in Warwickshire, but now part of West Midlands metropolitan county. The city was a major manufacturing centre in the early 20th century, before much of it was destroyed by German bombs during World War II. The city, and its cathedral, was largely rebuilt after the war, and the leading industries there now are mainly in the high-tech sector.
10. Pale sanctuary

Answer: Whitehaven

Whitehaven is a port in Cumbria. It made its fortune exporting coal (mainly to Ireland) and importing tobacco from the USA. In the early 21st century, the harbour had become a marina, with the biggest local employer being the nearby Sellafield nuclear power station.
