Carlow is one of twelve counties that make up the province of Leinster and is the second smallest. The other counties are Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.

Answer: Brownshill Dolmen

Brownshill Dolmen was officially known as the Kernanstown Cromlech. It is located on a hill where the Browne family once lived and from which the hill takes its name. It was built sometime between 4000 and 3000 BC and the capstone is estimated to weigh as much as 100 metric tons. It is believed to be the heaviest in Europe.

The Battle of Glenmalure took place in 1580 during the Desmond Rebellions. An Irish Catholic force, led by Fiach MacHugh O'Byrne and James Eustace, defeated an English army under Arthur Grey at the O'Byrne's mountain stronghold of Glenmalure.

Éigse Carlow Arts Festival was founded in 1979. The name 'Éigeas' was chosen, as it is the Irish term for 'poetry gathering'. It was first planned as an Irish and English language festival, with events such as an art exhibition, local history lectures, poetry, and walks in Carlow and Céilí na nÓg.
