Question 1 of 10
1. Your first clue is given to you at the starting line. It says, "Go to the extreme sports capital of the world. Your first checkpoint can be found near Mount Cook on the South Island." You then see a list of four possible countries. Which city should you travel to? Hint

Question 2 of 10
2. Your next clue says, "Your second checkpoint awaits you in world famous St. Mark's Square, which is in the same city as an airport named for a famous explorer." Again, you see the four countries, and hurry to an airport. Which city should you book a flight to? Hint

Question 3 of 10
3. You read your clue aloud. "Your third checkpoint waits for you on the shore of a lake which is the largest of its kind in its country. The city you must travel to shares its name with this famous body of water. This city has housed one of the UN headquarters for many years despite not being a member until 2002. The country the city is in is known for remaining politically neutral for the most part." Unfortunately, you missed the flight to that specific city. Luckily, you manage to find a flight to city close to your target destination. Which of these cities would be the most logical to fly to? Hint

Question 4 of 10
4. You take a glance at the beautiful lake before reading the clue. "The fourth checkpoint is inside the Golden Temple, the most sacred place of worship of a certain religion." Despite the lack of information, you remember hearing about a violent clash between religious separatists and government forces in 1984 at the Golden Temple. To what city should you fly? Hint

Question 5 of 10
5. You marvel at the beauty of the Golden Temple before reading your clue aloud. "This island country is one of the world's biggest sources for tuna. The fifth checkpoint can be found close to Mount Silisili." Where are you headed now? Hint

Question 6 of 10
6. Your next clue says, "Fly to the only international airport in a fairly large country. Mesopotamia and Patagonia are the names of some geographical regions found in this country." You take one final look at Mount Silisili before getting on your way to where? Hint

Question 7 of 10
7. Upset at the fact that you get to see no more than an airport during the last leg, you read your next clue. "This country is home to Chott el Jerid, an enormous salt lake that makes one of the boundaries of the Sahara Desert. Your checkpoint can be found at a small airport near the lake, only reachable through the capital city's international airport." What city must you go to? Hint

Question 8 of 10
8. You can feel the sweat run down your face as you stand in the scorching hot African countryside. You read your next clue. "Your eighth checkpoint can be found at The Swallow's Nest castle. The castle stands on a cliff overlooking a body of water. This is one of many tourist attractions found on the coast that is considered a neighboring country's Riviera." What city do you need to go to? Hint

Question 9 of 10
9. You read your clue to yourself, realizing the race is almost over. "This country's economy was transformed by the discovery of oil and natural gas reserves. This country has built an underground pipeline (Great Manmade River Project) to exploit its valuable underground aquifers. This is unusual because one of the most widely known pieces of geography occupies some of this country. Be careful! This country has had some serious political turmoil. The checkpoint can be found in the town of Surt." Where are you headed to now? Hint

Question 10 of 10
10. You read your next clue and are stunned at its easiness. "Checkpoint number ten is located in Muscat, Oman." The clue then gives you the exact location in Muscat to travel to. You arrive hours ahead of the others, but you have not won yet, you must beat the others to the finish line. Your final clue is very confusing. "Rearrange: N, I, S, I, S, A, T, U, L, O, and go to the high point." The only familiar thing about the letters is that they are the first letters of all the countries you have visited. Suddenly, it hits you! What country do you have to go to now? Hint

quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Your first clue is given to you at the starting line. It says, "Go to the extreme sports capital of the world. Your first checkpoint can be found near Mount Cook on the South Island." You then see a list of four possible countries. Which city should you travel to?

Answer: Wellington, New Zealand

Mount Cook is New Zealand's tallest mountain and is on the west coast of South Island. Unfortunately, you didn't realize that Wellington was on North Island, so by the time you reach Mount Cook, everyone else has found the checkpoint and gone on. You have ground to make up!

Mount Cook is also a suburb in Wellington but being there won't help you win the prize as you're still on the North Island.
2. Your next clue says, "Your second checkpoint awaits you in world famous St. Mark's Square, which is in the same city as an airport named for a famous explorer." Again, you see the four countries, and hurry to an airport. Which city should you book a flight to?

Answer: Venice, Italy

St. Mark's Square and its adjoining streets are known for their flooding. Venice is famous for its gondolas. Venice's airport is named for famous traveler, Marco Polo. One of your opponents thought he needed to go to Dublin, putting him in last. Don't get too excited, you still have eight people ahead of you.

Answer: Bern, Switzerland

The flight you missed was headed to Geneva, Switzerland. Geneva shares its name with the lake right next to it, which lies between Switzerland and France. Another racer missed the flight, and was left behind with you. She had some trouble finding the checkpoint, and you jump into eighth place.

Answer: New Delhi, India

The Golden Temple is located in Amritsar, India. It is the most sacred shrine of the Sikh religion. You separated yourself even more from that girl behind you, and even caught up with another racer. You travel to Amritsar together, and are tied for seventh place.
5. You marvel at the beauty of the Golden Temple before reading your clue aloud. "This island country is one of the world's biggest sources for tuna. The fifth checkpoint can be found close to Mount Silisili." Where are you headed now?

Answer: Samoa

Silisili is found on the island of Savai'i, one of the islands that make up Samoa. It was very difficult finding a plane to Samoa from India; you had to wait 30 hours to be exact. You should have taken that early flight to nearby Bora Bora like some of the others did and fly to Samoa from there. Despite poor judgment, you climb into sixth place.
6. Your next clue says, "Fly to the only international airport in a fairly large country. Mesopotamia and Patagonia are the names of some geographical regions found in this country." You take one final look at Mount Silisili before getting on your way to where?

Answer: Buenos Aires, Argentina

Mesopotamia is a narrow depression no more than 180 miles wide in northern Argentina. Patagonia is in southern Argentina and has two parts, mountains and plateaus along with the world's third largest ice sheet. You grab the last seat on a flight to Buenos Aires, which four others got on. It takes you a while to find the clue and you end this leg in fifth place.

Answer: Tunis, Tunisia

Togo does not have an international airport. Tanzania's international airport is not in the capital city of Dodoma. Tuvalu isn't even in Africa; it's an island in the Pacific. Tunisia wins by process of elimination. Your quick thinking helped you outsmart yet another person, as you move into fourth place.

Answer: Kiev, Ukraine

The castle is located in Yalta, Ukraine, and overlooks the Black Sea. This is one of many tourist attractions on the Crimean coast, also known as the Russian Riviera. Luckily, you and just two other people made the Kiev flight. You finish the leg in third place.

Answer: Tripoli, Libya

The Sahara Desert occupies much of Libya, making aquifers unusual. The bad news about this leg is that all ten racers met up at the Kiev airport and took the same flight to Tripoli. The good news is that despite the heavy competition, you finished in second place.

The only person ahead of you is Daniel Fitzgerald, who has been leading the whole race, and probably cheating. You have only one leg to catch up!

Answer: United States

The letters rearranged spell out SAINT LOUIS. It is easy to assume that it is in reference to Saint Louis, Missouri because of "high point." The Gateway Arch is a high structure overlooking the Mississippi River, in Saint Louis. You have to ride the tram to the top of the arch to get your prize, which you hope you have won. You get up there and see nothing but Daniel Fitzgerald's eleven clues that he left up there and a note saying, "DF has won the million dollar grand prize". You take a look at them and realize that they all are exactly like the clue you got leading you to Oman, with no difficult clues, just the locations of all of the checkpoints. You realize that the Oman clue you got was intended for him.

He had inside information. You look out the window of the giant structure, and see Fitzgerald exiting with a briefcase. You have a new goal now: follow him, no matter where in the world he goes, you will get your money that you rightfully won. To be continued!
