1. What are the Norfolk Broads?

Answer: A series of lakes and rivers used for recreational purposes

The Broads are the result of ancient peat excavations thought to have been started by the Romans. This carried on until the Middle Ages when the sea levels rose and flooded the pits. Now they are an area of outstanding beauty with thousands of visitors making the most of the waterways.

The 275ft high tower of St Botolph's church in Boston, Lincolnshire is the 14th highest church tower in England. It is visible for many miles around because of the low-lying Lincolnshire ground.

Answer: The Pennines mountain chain

The Pennines are England's longest mountain chain, stretching from Derbyshire in the south up to the Scottish borders in the north. It is also the natural border between bitter rivals Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Answer: A large cave in Somerset

Wookey Hole was formed by the action of the River Axe on the limestone of the Mendip Hills. It is famous for the Witch of Wookey, a rock outcrop that resembles an old hag.

Answer: Three chalk stacks that rise out of the sea next to the Isle of Wight

The three sharp-edged stacks jut out into the English Channel at the western point of the Isle of Wight. The furthest west of the three has a lighthouse on it, which was erected in 1859.

Answer: A large indentation in England's eastern coastline

The Wash is a large bay in Eastern England, formed with three nearly straight lines meeting at right angles. It is famous for being the site where King John lost the Crown Jewels when crossing the bay in 1216, and they are still thought to be buried in the sands somewhere.
7. What is The Lizard?

Answer: The most southerly point of mainland England

The Lizard is a peninsula in Cornwall that stretches into the English Channel. The name has nothing to do with lizards but comes from the Cornish name for a high court,'Lys Ardh'.
8. This landmark is definitely man-made, but can you guess what 'Fylingdales' is?

Answer: A Ballistic Missile Early Warning station (BMEWS)

Situated on Snod Hill on the North Yorkshire moors, the three large 'Golf Balls' that house the early warning radar are visible for miles around. Although primarily an RAF station, it has been funded by the USAF as part of its BMEWS system.

Answer: A series of chalk hills in southeast England

The eroded southern edge of the South Downs is visible as the White Cliffs of Dover. The Downs stretch from Hampshire to Sussex.

Answer: The highest mountain in England

Scafell Pike is in the Lake District and is 978 meters high. It was donated to the National Trust in 1919 by Lord Leconfield as a lasting tribute to the men from the Lake District who had fallen in the Great War.
