Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This area is not recognized "officially" but has also gone by the name of the "Devil's Triangle". Flight 19 disappeared here.

Answer: The Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda Triangle is an area off of the southeastern Atlantic coast of the United States and has been blamed for the disappearance of many ships and planes, most notably Flight 19, which departed from the U.S. Naval Station in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida as a navigational training flight. More information came be obtained on this unusual historic event here: http://www.history.navy.mil/faqs/faq15-1.htm
Some theories as to why strange occurrences happen in this imaginary area are U.F.O. abductions and that the continent of Atlantis had sunk under this body of water.
2. This continent is home to the original aborigines, who have been described as possessing the oldest culture in the world. According to conventional archaeology, they have inhabited this land for almost 50 thousand years.

Answer: Australia

Aborigines may have inhabited Australia for many more years than that. An Australian novelist named James C. Cowan has written books that show how their tradition is one of the last links with a truly spiritual way of life. They were "one with the land" and had their culture disrupted when the English settled in Australia in 1788.

They are still in force in many parts of the continent today, however.
3. This area has been home to many spiritual retreats and is considered to be a vortex for spiritual energy.

Answer: Sedona

Sedona is in the United States in Arizona. Vortexes are swirling centers of subtle energy that come from the surface of the earth. There are beautiful red rocks everywhere in the Arizona desert. There are four main vortexes, which have energy that supposedly interacts with the energy coming from inside all things including humans. People have testified that crystals worn around their neck or in bracelets have begun to glow upon arrival in Sedona.
4. "Area 51" is documented by the American government to be a place where an unidentified flying object (UFO) has been captured.

Answer: False

While this is an area of heated debate, there is no proof that "Area 51" or "dreamland" actually exists. This area is said to be 120 miles northwest of Las Vegas in Nevada and houses a UFO crash that occurred in Roswell, New Mexico. Rumors circulate that the United States has been conducting alien experiments there for years in exchange for turning a blind eye to other abductions.

This remains a myth today, however.
5. Crop circles are interesting phenomena that have been found all over the Earth. In 1980, a farmer from which of the following locations, called UFO researchers to investigate two crop circles that he found.

Answer: Wiltshire

Crop circles have appeared in several places all over the globe: the Unites States, Canada, Australia, Russia, Japan, Ireland, and Holland, just to name a few. However, the 1980 discovery was made in Wiltshire and several crop circles have been found there since.

Some have been found around Avebury and Silbury Hill where rock formations such as Stonehenge lies. There are several explanations as to how the circles have come to be, but nothing is substantiated.
6. A man made phenomenon is carved into Mt. Rushmore, where the faces of four American presidents can be seen on the side of a mountain. In which state can you find Mt. Rushmore?

Answer: South Dakota

The four presidents are: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Mt. Rushmore is in Keystone, South Dakota and more information can be found about it here: http://www.nps.gov/moru/
7. This island is over 2,000 miles from the nearest population centers (Tahiti and Chile) and is known for giant stone faces or monoliths.

Answer: Easter Island

This is also known as Rapa Nui and was named Easter Island by Admiral Roggeveen, who landed there in 1772. The monoliths remain a mystery and are known by the island's inhabitants as Moai.
8. One of the theories of Atlantis suggests that the continent sank in today's Atlantic Ocean and that its inhabitants fled west and east. Its survivors built pyramids, one being the Great Pyramid at Giza in Egypt.

Answer: True

The origins of many of the pyramids are unknown and debatable and whether they have anything to do with Atlantis remains debatable as well. However, it is no coincidence that the same structural formations of many of the older pyramids are the same in Mexico and Egypt. I got much of this information from the book "From Atlantis to the Sphinx" by Colin Wilson.
9. Another set of mysterious rock formations have acted as umbrellas sheltering soft sandstone beneath it. Hidden below are several fossilized bones of a countless number of dinosaurs that have been well preserved. A museum was even opened nearby. Where is this site located?

Answer: Red River Valley

The Red River Valley is in Manitoba, Canada. It is also known as dinosaur valley as well as the dinosaur capital of the world. Here is a site that explains it in detail: http://www.dinosaurvalley.com/
10. This is the area where you will find one of the world's largest monoliths. As the sun rises and sets over it, it turns amazing shades of red. Where am I?

Answer: All of These

Uluru is a large rock in the Australian Outback (it is also known as Ayers Rock). There are more stone heads or monoliths nearby called the Olgas, or Kata Tjuta.
It is not the largest rock in the world; that title belongs to My Augustus in Western Australia (near Carnarvon). It is twice the size of Uluru.
