The height of Chinese poetry is said to have occurred during the Tang dynasty. Few Chinese historians would argue this fact.

Wang Mang was actually a reformer, who attempted to overturn much of the corruption that occurred during the former Han. Unfortunately, the problems of the empire were too great, and he was killed by rebels in the year 23 A.D.
