1. What year did Col. Mosby die?

Answer: 1916

He died on Memorial Day 1916.
2. This brigade was known as the "Orphan Brigade" and was in the CSA army. What border state were they from?

Answer: Kentucky

The 1st Kentucky Brigade was organized in the summer of 1861. They were not recognized by their home state which remained in the Union. They were part of the Army of Tennessee. Of the 4,000 members brigade, as of May, 1865 only 500 remained.
3. At the start of the war how many states remained in the Union?

Answer: 23

Twenty-three states which included the four border states (slave). West Virginia (1863) and Nevada (1864)were added during the war.
4. Who restored Gen. Lee's United States citizenship?

Answer: Congress

Although Gen. Lee had signed an oath of allegiance necessary for restoration of citizenship, in 1865, it was never officially recorded. Seward had given it to a friend as a souvenir. Gen. Lee's citizenship was restored by an act of Congress in 1975.
5. What country was CSA President Davis exiled to after his release by the Government?

Answer: Canada

After a period of exile in Canada, he returned to the United States and accepted a job with an insurance company. He lived out his remaining years in Mississippi never seeking the restoration of his citizenship which was finally restored by President Jimmy Carter.
6. 11 states left the Union but there are 13 stars on the CSA battle flag. What states do the two stars represent?

Answer: Kentucky-Missouri

Kentucky and Missouri were added to represent the secession governments of those states.
7. Which Union soldier claimed to have shot John Wilkes Boot?

Answer: Boston Corbett

He was arrested for disobeying orders not to shoot. Sec. of War Stanton ordered his release. He became a hero, but was later committed to an asylum, which he escaped from and then disappeared without a trace.
8. D. H. Hill was a General in the CSA army?

Answer: True

He was known as a dependable battlefield general. "Stonewall Jackson" married his wife's sister. He had a low opinion of cavalrymen invluding J.E.B. Stuart.
9. The Grand review of the Union army took place in what city?

Answer: Washington DC

The review took place the 23/24 May, 1865. It was said Gen. Custer's horse got away from him, and he rode by the reviewing stand twice.
10. The end surrender of the CSA army came at Appomattox, NC?

Answer: False

Appomattox. Va, April 1865.
