Answer: Rudolf Hess

Hess had, in fact, been the sole prisoner in Spandau since 1966, a holdover from the Nuremburg Trials after World War II. The 93-year-old former Deputy Fuehrer of the Nazi Third Reich was serving a life sentence when he was found dead August 17, apparently by self-strangulation. The prison was quickly torn down to keep any neo-Nazis from making a shrine out of the building.

Answer: The Last Emperor

'Emperor' and its director, Bernardo Bertolucci, took the gold that year. Answer: Jim Bakker

Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker were quite a pair in their role of the PTL ministries ... that was, before Jim's affair with Jessica Hahn broke in the media. Answer: Robert Bork

Allen's trials occurred years before, during the FDR administraion (a move not reached until Sandra Day O'Connor). Carswell came later under President Nixon, also to go down because of his stand on segregation. Bork had a prominent role in what was called the 'Saturday Night Massacre' during Nixon's 'Watergate' issue. That, more than anything else, sealed his fate in Congress. Happily, Clarence Thomas would have his day in court (and succeed) in 1990.
15. After years of dreaming, speculation and planning, what seven-year 'monster' project finally got underway in 1987?
