The prison was quickly torn down to keep any neo-Nazis from making a shrine out of the building.

18-month-old Jessica McClure fell into an 18-inch pipe where a well used to be in the backyard of her home on October 14th. It took rescuers about 58 hours to locate her and bring her to safety. She was the subject of a made-for-TV movie two years later.

Allen's trials occurred years before, during the FDR administraion (a move not reached until Sandra Day O'Connor). Carswell came later under President Nixon, also to go down because of his stand on segregation. Bork had a prominent role in what was called the 'Saturday Night Massacre' during Nixon's 'Watergate' issue. That, more than anything else, sealed his fate in Congress. Happily, Clarence Thomas would have his day in court (and succeed) in 1990.

Talk of a massive underground tunnel connecting the British Isles with Europe can be dated as far back as 1802. The 31 mi. (51.5 km) Channel Tunnel (or 'Chunnel') connects Coquelles in France with Folkstone, England, across the English Channel. The tunnel was completed in 1994.
