The English drink on average four to six cups of tea each day. Tea was first introduced in England by Catherine of Braganza in the mid 17th century. Catherine was Portuguese by birth, where tea was already a very popular drink with the nobility. She later came to England where she married King Charles II and started a custom that is still quintessentially English even today.

Pimm's was first introduced in 1823 by James Pimm who was an English farmer from Kent. The drink was used as a tonic and contained gin, quinine and herbs. Other ranges were introduced at a later date, but these have mostly been phased out. These included Pimm's No. 2 Cup (based on Scotch whisky) and Pimm's No. 3 Cup (based on brandy).

Answer: Stone's

A grocer from London, Joseph Stone, first produced ginger wine which was then sold by The Finsbury Distilling Company. The wine made a huge profit during the 1832 cholera epidemic as it was believed that ginger had healing qualities. It was also used to aid digestion and thought to be an aphrodisiac.

The drink is now sold worldwide and can be drunk on its own, with ice or mixed with whiskey.
