Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What do the letters SRD stand for?

Answer: System Reference Document

Wizards of the Coast have published the SRD with an open licence that allows many different companies to produce games using the same basic rules system. The open licence has caused a surge in Role Playing materials being published.
2. The Folding Boat is a wondrous item in the SRD. How many different size boats can the folding boat be made into by using command words?

Answer: 2

A folding boat looks like a small wooden box-about 12 inches long, 6 inches wide, and 6 inches deep. It can be used to store items like any other box. If a command word is given, however, the box unfolds itself to form a boat 10 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 2 feet in depth. A second command word causes it to unfold to a ship 24 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 6 feet deep. Any objects formerly stored in the box now rest inside the boat or ship.
3. The Stunning Fist feat has four prerequisites. What is the BAB (base attack bonus) required by the feat?

Answer: +8

The feat also requires a dexterity of 13, a wisdom of 13 and the Improved Unarmed Strike feat. This feat gives an unarmed attack a chance to stun the enemy.
4. If a character has a strength of 16 what would be considered a medium carrying load?

Answer: 77 - 153 lb.

154 - 230 lb. is a heavy load for a Strength of 16.
87 - 173 lb is a medium load for a Strength of 17.
67 - 133 lb. is a medium load for a strength of 15.
5. What level spell is Freezing Sphere?

Answer: 6th

Freezing sphere creates a frigid globe of cold energy that streaks from your fingertips to the location you select, where it explodes in a 10-foot-radius burst, dealing 1d6 points of cold damage per caster level (maximum 15d6) to each creature in the area. An elemental (water) creature instead takes 1d8 points of cold damage per caster level (maximum 15d8).
6. Ettins, or two-headed giants, are vicious and unpredictable hunters that stalk the night. Among other things a monster's HD (hit dice) determines how many hit points it has. How many HD does an Ettin have?

Answer: 10

Though Ettins aren't very intelligent, they are cunning fighters.

They prefer to ambush their victims rather than charge into a straight fight, but once the battle has started, an Ettin usually fights furiously until all enemies are dead.
7. Which of the planes is known as "the space between the planes"?

Answer: Astral Plane

The Astral Plane is the space between the planes. When a character moves through an interplanar portal or projects her spirit to a different plane of existence, she travels through the Astral Plane. Even spells that allow instantaneous movement across a plane briefly touch the Astral Plane.
The Astral Plane is a great, endless sphere of clear silvery sky, both above and below. Occasional bits of solid matter can be found here, but most of the Astral Plane is an endless, open domain.
Both planar travelers and refugees from other planes call the Astral Plane home.
8. How much of a competence bonus does a ring of Jumping give to its wearer when they make a jump check?

Answer: +5

At 2,500 gold this ring is popular among many rouges. The Ring of Improved Jumping costing 10,000 gold provides a +10 bonus.
9. What does Ghost Touch Armor do for the wearer?

Answer: Both its enhancement bonus and its armor bonus count against the attacks of incorporeal creatures

This armor or shield seems almost translucent. It can be picked up, moved, and worn by incorporeal creatures at any time. Incorporeal creatures gain the armor or shield's enhancement bonus against both corporeal and incorporeal attacks, and they can still pass freely through solid objects. There are also Ghost Touch weapons that are able to hit incorporeal creatures normally and ignore the usual miss chance those creatures get when attacked by a corporeal source.
10. Which prestige class requires that a character we able to use both arcane and clerical spells?

Answer: Mystic Theurge

The Mystic Theurge must be able to cast 2nd-level divine spells and 2nd-level arcane spells. When a new mystic theurge level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in any one arcane spellcasting class he belonged to before he added the prestige class and any one divine spellcasting class he belonged to previously.

He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. This essentially means that he adds the level of mystic theurge to the level of whatever other arcane spellcasting class and divine spellcasting class the character has, then determines spells per day and caster level accordingly.

The archmage requires only arcane spell casting. The Hierophant requires divine spell casting.

The Loremaster requires divination spells.
