Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What does the acronym IG commonly refer to?

Answer: Imperial Guard

The Imperial Guard are the hammer and anvil of the imperium. It is a fighting force composed of billions of soldiers from almost all the planets of the imperium of man. There is one single defining characteristic of the IG that draws players to them: In a universe filled with superhuman soldiers, psychic aliens and chaotic demons, they are but men, and men they are.
2. What does the combination TH + SS refer to?

Answer: Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield

This is an effective weapon combination commonly found in Space Marine Assault Terminator squads. The Storm Shields provide the terminators with added protection while they strike with their slow, albeit powerful thunder hammers.
3. This is a primarily defensive piece of battlefield equipment, used primarily by techno-specific members of a particular army. What is the KFF?

Answer: Kustom Force Field

The orkish Kustom Force Field is a creation by their brainiac Mekboyz. In larger-scale games, such as Epic, there are larger area-effect KFF's such as the one generated by the Mekboy Tower. Mekboy Gargants will also have KFF's, having similar properties as Imperial void shields.

I made the other three up.
4. A common term used for most races in Warhammer is the term CCW. One of the more recognizeable acronym combinations is the BP + CCW combination employed by Space Marines. What does CCW mean?

Answer: Close-Combat Weapon

Close-combat weapon is a general designation for the entire suite of weapons that one can use in hand-to-hand combat. This would include non-powered swords, knives, axes, mauls, maces, clubs and the like. Interestingly, pistols can be used as bludgeons in hand-to-hand, so they also count as CCWs.
5. This is more-or-less a rare sight on the battlefield. It is normally encountered alone, except in a few specialized armies which use it for transporting large squads of troops. It is commonly referred to as the LRC.

Answer: Land Raider Crusader

The Land Raider Crusader is one of the most distinguishable transports in the galaxy. The twin-assault cannons and hurricane bolters release an ungodly amount of fire support while the tank disembarks infantry squads larger than normally transportable.

The Leman Russ Conqueror is a specialized imperial guard tank. It is not capable of carrying squads of troops, and is rather a very mobile tank.

The other two do not exist, to my knowledge.
6. The VoD is primarily used to increase the mobility of a rather slow army. What does VoD refer to?

Answer: Veil of Darkness

The Veil of Darkness is a unique wargear used by Necron Lords to teleport entire squads of Necron Warriors (or Immortals) around the battlefield.

The webway portal is a piece of wargear that dark eldar use to enter the board, as if they were teleporting in through an exit in the webway.

Just made the other two up.
7. The ancient BL's strength lies in its ability to deal damage to heavily-armored vehicles just as easily as if they were armored transports. It also bypasses armor as thick as that of a space marine terminator's. The range of a BL is its primary advantage over its contemporaries, and the fact that it does not diminish mobility in any way. What does BL refer to?

Answer: brightlance

The eldar brightlance is one of the more devastating weapons in the game. Doing as much damage as a missile launcher, capable of slicing through tactical dreadnought armor and even treating armor 13 and up as armor 12, it is one of the harsher weapons in the eldar arsenal.

The broodlord is a tyranid HQ organism, essentially a super-powered genestealer. The blaster is a short-ranged high-intensity dark eldar weapon. The bloodthirster is the greater daemon of Khorne.
8. This interesting gadget adds to the effectiveness of those that wield it. It essentially allows units to fire and then hide right after, rendering them unable to be shot at. What is the CTM?

Answer: Crystal Targeting Matrix

The Crystal Targeting Matrix is one piece of eldar wargear that had controversy surrounding it even before it was released. The ability to fire during the movement phase simply rendered eldar vehicles annoying and unfair as they would often hide behind a piece of terrain, pop out, shoot and then hide back in the terrain. The addition of star engines (which allowed movement during the shooting phase) caused the designers to errata CTM so that it couldn't be used with the star engines.

I made the other three up.
9. Some of the eldar are referred to by players as the CWE. Who are these eldar that are being referred to?

Answer: Craftworld Eldar

The Craftworld Eldar are the remnants of the once-great eldar race that survive on their worldships, the craftworlds, drifting aimlessly through space. There are only a few major craftworlds, such as Ulthwe and Biel-Tan, but there are many more. Each craftworld is a self-sufficient unit that has it's own citizens, weapon/warsmiths, bonesigners, etc.
10. The LoC is one of the most terrifying opponents on the battlefield. It is often seen as a blinding being of many colors, soaring all over the battlefield, dispatching it's foes with great speed and blinding efficiency. The LoC is actually capable of producing devastating bolts of pure chaos as well as being a close-combat monster. What is the LoC?

Answer: Lord of Change

The Lord of Change is the winged, brilliantly colored greater daemon of Tzeentch. It is most often seen as a great bird of many colors and none, carrying a staff which it uses to send devastating bolts of change towards enemy tanks and heavy infantry. In close combat, it is the fastest of the greater daemons, making it capable of taking out speedy opponents like genestealers.

The other three are ordinary choices in a chaos space marine army.
