2. Nighthawks:

Answer: Edward Hopper

Hopper painted an America of isolation and loneliness. Nighthawks at the Art Institute of Chicago shows people at an all-night, 'lunch counter' and they appear isolated and lonely. Answer: Vincent van Gogh

Turbulent swirls of color and darkness are seen in this masterpiece at the Museum of Modern Art, NYC.
4. The Venus of Urbino:

Answer: Titian

Titian used rich and glowing colors in his paintings. The shade of red-gold used for the Venus of Urbino's hair was used in many of his paintings and became known as Titian Red. The Venus of Urbino hangs in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italy.

7. The Sleeping Gypsy:

Answer: Henri Rousseau

In 'The Sleeping Gypsy', at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, despite a lion over looking a young girl asleep on the desert sand, there is no sense of menace. There is almost a dreamlike quality to the picture.
