"And Then There Were None" is a classic murder mystery written by Agatha Christie. In this novel, several members of British society believe they have been invited by an old friend to stay an island mansion. Meanwhile, others believe they have found long awaited employment.

This is all a ruse, however, and the guests have been brought to the secluded mansion by a psychotic killer who begins offing them one by one.

"Rebecca" is a classic novel by Daphne du Maurier. The unnamed narrator suddenly marries a wealthy man named Maxim de Winter. Adding to the narrator's troubles is the housekeeper at Manderley Mrs. Danvers who is obsessed with Rebecca and hates Maxim's new wife. Mrs. Danvers goes out of her way to make her new hostess feel inferior and seeks to destroy her life.

Answer: All My Sons

"All My Sons" is a play by Arthur Miller set during World War II. Joe and Kate Keller are grieving over their son Larry who went missing in Europe during the war. It is apparent to everyone except Kate that Larry is dead and is never coming back. However Kate refuses to accept this and believes the tree that fell in the backyard (which was planted in Larry's honor) means that he will be coming back soon.

However, everyone else knows it means Larry will never be coming back. Meanwhile having accepted this, the Kellers' younger son Chris intends to marry Larry's girlfriend Ann, which threatens to tear the family apart for good as Kate cannot accept this union and Ann's brother vows to stop the marriage from going forward.

Answer: Romeo & Juliet

"Romeo & Juliet" is a classic tragic play by William Shakespeare. Romeo and his friends sneak into a party thrown by Count Montague and it is at this party where Romeo and Juliet first meet. They fall madly in love. However, their relationship is forbidden because of their feuding families. Desperate to be with each other secretly, a series of events unfolds that leads to the death of several people culminating in the deaths of Romeo and Juliet themselves.

"Dracula" is a novel by Bram Stoker told through a series of diary entries and letters. Jonathan Harker travels to Transylvania to help Count Dracula move from Romania to England. Harker realizes that Dracula is a vampire but is powerless to stop him before the count boards a ship for England. Harker escapes Dracula's Castle and sets off for England himself.

He recruits his friends, his fiancee and his old professor to help him stop Dracula from sullying the purity of English life.

"Lady Chatterley's Lover" is an infamous novel by D.H. Lawrence known for being banned and censored over its sexual content. In the novel, Sir Clifford Chatterley takes a new bride but he is suddenly paralyzed from the waist down because of war injuries.

This puts a strain on his marriage to Constance because the two cannot express physical love or have children. Connie becomes attracted to the handsome new gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors and the two begin a romantic affair.

"Great Expectations" is a novel by Charles Dickens that centers around a young boy named Pip. Pip is an orphan who, early in the novel, is intimidated by an escaped convict into giving him food and tools that Pip has to steal from his impoverished sister and brother-in-law.

Many years later, Pip learns that he has a secret benefactor who will provide him with money and allow him to rise in the ranks of British society. This benefactor is revealed to be the convict whom Pip helped all those year early.

However, Pip is less than thrilled to be receiving money from a convict who nearly got him in trouble.

"As I Lay Dying" is a classic novel by William Faulkner. However, each member of the family has his or her own reason for traveling to Jefferson. During their journey and after their arrival, each Bundren must come to terms with the death of the matriarch Addie but also their own pasts, actions and motives.

"The Crucible" is a play by Arthur Miller that closely relates to Miller's own experience of being accused as a communist. In the play, a group of girls led by Abigail Williams go dancing in the woods. This is taken by the overly zealous members of Salem to mean the girls are possessed by witches.

In order to spare themselves punishment, the girls claim they were possessed by various prominent women in Salem. Soon, every citizen of Salem is accusing another of being a witch as means to settle their own petty disputes over land and other things.
10. A Lithuanian immigrant takes a job at a slaughterhouse.

Answer: The Jungle

"The Jungle" is a novel by Upton Sinclair about the meat-packing industry in the American Midwest in the early 20th century. The novel focuses on the harsh conditions experienced by Jurgis Rudkus, an immigrant who works in a slaughterhouse. Jurgis is disappointed that what he believed to be the American dream is nonexistent because of incredibly low wages, poor working conditions and lack of potential upward mobility.

He finds America to be no more free than his old country since everyone in his family, no matter how sick or old, must work menial labor for hours each day with little compensation.
