"Fruits Basket": Tohru Honda Trivia Quiz

Answer: Dog

During a flashback in volume one, Tohru's mother tells her the story of how the rat tricked the cat into not becoming a Zodiac member. Then, out of compassion, Tohru decides to quit being a year of the dog and become a cat.

Answer: A mother figure

He first admits it at the end of volume 14, and in volume 15, Yuki elaborates to Manabe why he feels this way about Tohru. His own mother treated him as a pawn instead of as her child. But Tohru offered him warmth, love, and acceptance, which is why he adores her and sees her as a mother figure.

Answer: Arisa helped Tohru pick up the books she dropped in the hallway at their school.

In volume seven, while helping her pick up her things, Arisa discovers that Tohru is the daughter of her hero, Kyoko, a.k.a. "The Red Butterfly". Arisa is shocked to find out that such a nice, polite girl is related to the infamous gang member.

Answer: Shigure

Shigure volunteers to go with Tohru to her parent-teacher conference in volume 12. Yet it becomes apparent that he does so not out of concern for Tohru's school work, but because he wants to annoy her teacher, Mayu, whom he used to date.

Answer: His formal speech and politeness.

One of the few things Tohru remembers about her father was his formal speech and politeness. After he died, when Tohru was around four years old, Kyoko, her mother, was very distraught and didn't pay as much attention to her. To make her feel better, Tohru imitated his way of speaking, and it sort of stuck.

Answer: Janitor/ cleaning lady

In volume 1, Tohru is revealed to be a cleaning lady in a large office building. Later, we find out that it is owned by Momiji's father. Momiji often goes there to see his mother and little sister, who don't know that he's related to them.

Answer: Katsuya

Shown in a flashback in volume 12, Katsuya was an "unmotivated student teacher" when he first met Kyoko, who was a violent middle-schooler at the time. After falling in love, in spite of the age difference, they got married and had a child. A few years later, Katsuya died of pneumonia.

Answer: An onigiri

This symbol comes from when Tohru was a child during a game of "Fruits Basket", where people are designated names of different fruit, and then trade places in a circle when their fruit is called. But the other kids were mean to Tohru, and gave her the title of the onigiri, or rice ball.

This made her unable to play the game, because rice balls aren't fruit. Since telling this story, Tohru is represented by a cute little onigiri.

Answer: To break the Sohma's curse

While sitting with Kyo at Kazuma's home in volume 16, Tohru makes a wish that she can somehow break the curse binding the Sohma family. But she makes this wish mostly for Kyo, who will have to be imprisoned for the rest of his life if he can't defeat Yuki by the time they graduate from high school.

Answer: The Evil Step-Sister

All of the roles were decided by the Yuki Fan Club, who hold a grudge against Tohru for being friends with Yuki. In volume 14, they give Tohru the role of the Evil Step-Sister, which they think would be the most hated. But their plan backfires in the next volume when Tohru simply can't pull it off, since she is the complete opposite of that character.

The class is forced to rewrite the script so that the roles complement the actors' personalities.
