Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Lady Georgiana has a strange relationship with Darcy O'Mara. She is never sure if they are actually romantically involved or not, considering he often disappears and reappears without warning. It isn't until they become engaged at the end of "The Twelve Clues of Christmas" that she somewhat starts to trust his faithfulness. But in order to marry Darcy, what does Lady Georgiana have to do?

Answer: Renounce her position in the line of succession to the British Throne

Darcy is an Irish Catholic, and thus by marrying him, Georgiana will remove herself from the line of succession. This does not concern her very much because as the 34th/35th in line, she had little chance of becoming Queen. Only in "Heirs and Graces", the book following the engagement, when her mother tells her, does Georgiana realize that she can do such a thing. Previously, she was under the assumption that she needed the Royal Family's approval.
2. Lady Georgiana's best friend is Belinda Warburton-Stokes, who has an affinity for men and gambling. Belinda often ropes Georgiana into some kind of wild or unusual situation that Georgiana would have otherwise avoided. One problem Belinda usually faces is that she lacks the money to live the extravagant lifestyle she wants. Luckily, she has a way of dealing with this. What ploy does Belinda pull in "Royal Blood" that got her invited to a royal wedding in Transylvania?

Answer: She feigns car trouble outside of the establishment

This nifty little maneuver, however, failed for her in "Naughty in Nice" when she was not able to find a rich man to pay for her stay in a luxury hotel. She instead had to stay at a significantly less fancy hotel that she could afford.
3. Lady Georgiana's brother, Binky, is the current Duke of Rannoch. Binky is not in good financial position after having to pay outrageous amounts in death duties after his father's suicide as revealed in "Her Royal Spyness". Now the Duke of Rannoch, Binky lives in Rannoch Castle, the family estate. Where in the Britain does Binky live?

Answer: Scotland

Binky lives with his wife, Fig and his two kids in Scotland, although he occasionally visits the family's London home, where Georgiana takes up residence. In the debut series novel "Her Royal Spynes,," Binky discovers that his father gambles away Rannoch Castle. Luckily for Binky, the winner of the castle is murdered (not by Binky) and it remains in his family's possession.
4. Binky's wife, Fig, absolutely cannot stand Georgiana and wants her married off as soon as possible. Fig is also very frugal with money, always economizing even when not necessary. However, in one novel, Fig has a completely different personality, even to the point of enjoying Georgiana's company. Which novel does this occur in?

Answer: Royal Flush

In "Royal Flush", there is a nearby house party at Balmoral and the Queen has asked if some of the guests could stay at Rannoch Castle. Soon the party at Rannoch Castle is swarming with obnoxious people from all over the world, and Binky is injured when he steps on a bear trap. Fig is grateful that Georgiana came to help, but by the next novel, she is back to her usual self.

One interesting part of "Naughty in Nice" involves Fig's second pregnancy. Georgiana understands how Binky was able to get Fig "in the family way" because of his need of an heir. But the second heir is a mystery to her as she deems Fig undesirable. She humorously quips that it must have been Binky who had to lie back and think of England.
5. Georgiana's mother is Claire Daniels, the famous actress. Like Belinda, she has an affinity for rich men and has been married quite a number of times. In "Her Royal Spyness", we learn that Claire is still married to her estranged billionaire husband from what country?

Answer: United States

She is still legally married to Homer Clegg, a Texas oil baron. She wanted a divorce, but Homer was too religious to grant her one. She often considers running off to get one without Clegg, most notably in "Naughty or Nice". Her main squeeze is a German man named Max, who apparently has unlimited wealth and may or may not have ties Hitler.
6. True or False: The royal half of Lady Georgiana's family was happy to have her maternal grandfather, Albert, around during her childhood even though he is not a "proper toff".

Answer: False

Binky and Georgiana have the same father but different mothers. The royals forbade Georgiana from seeing her grandfather, but when she grew up she would occasionally visit him. Albert, a retired Cockney policeman, often assists Georgiana in her investigations and is not impressed by the fact that she is royalty.
7. Albert has a lady friend who calls herself "Mrs. 'uggins". In "Royal Pain", she pretends to be Georgie's servant to impress a visiting princess. What is Mrs. 'uggins' real last name?

Answer: Huggins

In several novels, Lady Georgiana talks about her frustration that the lower classes cannot pronounce the letter H and wonders why their names just seem to begin with that letter. Despite this, she like Mrs. Huggins and the way she always takes care of her grandfather.
8. In "Royal Blood", Georgie finds herself a permanent maid, who just happens to be a relative of Mrs. 'uggins. What is the regal name of this not-so capable maid?

Answer: Queenie

Queenie often struggles with basic tasks every lady's maid should know. She even brags about how she once set a previous employer's hair on fire and often falls asleep on Georgie's bed when she is supposed to be working. In "The Twelve Clues of Christmas", Queenie accidentally injures a houseguest after pulling her dress too tight.

She then causes another woman to bleed after stabbing her with a needle while making alterations.
9. If the Royal Family and Fig had their way, Lady Georgiana would be the wife of Prince Siegfried. Not only is Georgie repulsed by him, he also "prefers boys". What is Georgiana's nickname for Siegfried?

Answer: Fish Lips

In "Royal Blood", Siegfried announces his engagement to Georgiana, which comes as a surprise to her. When Georgie's mother finds out, she says it would be wise for her to marry the rich, but unappealing, Siegfried (whom she also refers to as Fish Face) and keep the handsome, but penniless, Darcy on the side.

She then notes it's a shame the two men don't have the same hair color as it would be difficult to pass Darcy's baby as Siegfried's.
10. The series also features some real world characters, albeit somewhat fictionalized. The title of the series, "Her Royal Spyness", comes from what Queen Mary often asks Georgiana to do. Who does the Queen ask Georgie to spy on and for what reason?

Answer: Her son Edward because he is spending too much time around Wallis Simpson

This foreshadows the abdication of King Edward VIII (often referred to as David in the novels) when he marries Wallis Simpson. This leads to his brother Albert's ascension to the throne as King George VI.
