Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is permitted to enter Rhuidean?

Answer: Those who wish to become Wise Ones or clan chiefs.

Only those who wish to become Wise Ones or clan chiefs can enter Rhuidean. Those wishing to become clan chiefs go straight to the ter'angreal glass pillars, where they see the history of the Aiel through their ancestors' eyes. Those wishing to become Wise Ones first go to Rhuidean and enter a ter'angreal consisting of three rings, which operates in a way similar to the three arches in the White Tower.

Then, they are considered the Wise Ones' apprentices. Later, they also use the ter'angreal among the glass pillars. Anyone wishing to become a clan chief or a Wise One must be given permission by at least four Wise Ones before entering Rhuidean.

The only known exception at this point in the series was Moiraine, who does not wish to be a Wise One, but was given permission by four Wise Ones to travel to the three ter'angreal rings.
2. Who was Lanfear disguised as for most of "The Shadow Rising"?

Answer: Keille

While Rand knew for most of the book that the peddlers the Aiel were travelling with were Darkfriends, and he suspected one was Lanfear, he did not know if she was disguised as Isendre or Keille. Lanfear is surprised he even asks which one she was, because she thinks he would automatically assume she was Isendre, since Isendre was slim and beautiful and Keille was very fat.

However, Isendre was simply a lower rank Darkfriend who never knew she was dealing with Lanfear.
3. What were the sisters of the Black Ajah looking for in Tanchico?

Answer: A collar that could control a male channeler.

As far as we know in this book, the Black sisters don't know what exactly it is they are looking for, only that they want to control the Dragon Reborn. Liandrin seems to think they will be able to challenge the Forsaken if they can get Rand under control.

However, for whatever reason, Moghedien did not appear to have informed the Black sisters about the collar. We learn more about it when Nynaeve and Moghedien duel. It is similar to an a'dam, but has key differences, such as the presence of two bracelets, and the material is not linked together.
4. A roofmistress can deny her husband access to their home.

Answer: True

While we have yet to actually see this happen, according to Aviendha, while women cannot be clan chiefs, they have the power in their holds. If a woman refuses her husband entrance to their home, he absolutely is not permitted to enter, without exception.

This includes Rhuarc. Despite the fact that he is clan chief, his wife Lian is capable of turning him out of her hold. However, it's highly unlikely she would ever do that, since they clearly love each other.
5. Who is Slayer?

Answer: Lord Luc

Slayer's identity is revealed when Perrin shoots an arrow at him in the Wolf Dream. When he wakes up, Perrin is informed that Lord Luc suddenly fled Emond's Field, nearly running everyone over in the process. He was also wounded in the same place where Perrin shot him in the dream.
6. What do Bain, Chiad, and Gaul do upon entering the Winespring Inn?

Answer: Give gifts to Marin al'Vere.

It is customary among the Aiel to present gifts to a roofmistress whose hold they are visiting. Since men cannot own land among the Aiel, they assume that Marin owns the inn and that she is the roofmistress, so they give her gifts from the loot they took from the Stone of Tear. Marin manages to calmly and politely take it all in stride, as if it were a usual occurrence.
7. Who are the traveling people in search of "The Song"?

Answer: The Tuatha'an

The Tuatha'an are the only ones who have stayed true to the Way of the Leaf, which all Aiel used to follow back when they served the Aes Sedai. Not even the Tuatha'an know this, but they are always given safe passage in the Three Fold Land, though the Aiel are uneasy around them. Only the clan chiefs and Wise Ones remember their history, through the ter'angreal in Rhuidean.

The Tuatha'an wander in their wagons, not realizing that they do so because once long ago, they carried many objects of the One Power in wagons to keep safe for the Aes Sedai.
8. The male Forsaken are doomed to go mad if they channel the One Power long enough, just like all other male channelers.

Answer: False

Because of their link to the Dark One, the male Forsaken can safely channel saidin without going mad. However, when Rand severs Asmodean's link to the Dark One, he dooms Asmodean to the same fate as all other male channelers.
9. How do young Aiel girls wear their hair?

Answer: In two braids with ribbon

Since Egwene did not keep her word about not going into the World of Dreams without a Wise One to guide her, Amys makes her wear her hair in two braids with a ribbon, just like young Aiel girls do. This was to show her she was acting like a child, and could not be trusted as an adult. After ten days, she is allowed to take her hair out of the braids.
10. Faile is a queen's __________.

Answer: cousin

Faile's father is uncle to Queen Tenobia in Saldaea, which makes Faile Tenobia's cousin. Perrin had no idea she was so much as a Lady, since she had been telling him that her father was a wealthy merchant. He finally finds out when the Tinkers take him and the injured Two Rivers boys in to tend to their wounds.
