This was first published in 1950. Letitia, however, is not as she first appears. When an advertisement, in the local newspaper, says a murder will happen at Little Paddocks, everybody goes there. Letitia considers the advertisement a joke, but it stops being a joke when the lights go out and a gunman appears. Luckily, Miss Marple is staying nearby.
2. B is for body and "The Body in the Library". What was the name of the Bantry's home?

Answer: Gossington Hall

This was first published in 1942. Dolly Bantry and her husband, Colonel Arthur Bantry, are horrified when the body of a beautiful young woman is discovered in their library. The Colonel, of course, denies knowing who she is, but rumours soon spread. However, Miss Marple is a very good friend of the Bantry's, and manages to solve the mystery.

Sir Henry Clithering was a member of "The Tuesday Night Club" group that was organised in the short story collection "The Thirteen Problems", with Miss Marple and others. Chief Inspector Dermot Craddock appeared in "4:50 from Paddington" and "The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side". He had a lot of respect for Miss Marple.

This book was first published in 1957. Lucy is an extremely intelligent woman. She is able to take whichever job takes her fancy. She becomes an amateur sleuth, and helps Miss Marple, while she is working for the Crackenthorpe family. Lucy was a very popular character, but unfortunately does not make any other appearance in any Miss Marple cases.

In this book, one of Miss Marple's friends sees a murder committed on a train, but there is no body to be found.
6. F is for Rex Fortescue who appeared in "A Pocket Full of Rye". Rex was the first death in the book. What was Rex's job?

Answer: Banker

This book was first published in 1953. The novel is very similar to the nursery rhyme "Sing a Song of Sixpence". Rex, of course, means King, and Rex was killed in his "counting house". Miss Marple investigates when the maid of Rex Fortescue is also found murdered. This maid used to work for Miss Marple.
7. G is for Randall Goedler who appeared in "A Murder is Announced". He was a wealthy businessman who died before the book began. He left his vast fortune to his wife, Belle Goedler. Where did Belle now live?

Letitia Blacklock was Randall Goedler's secretary. After Belle's death - and Belle was not a well woman - Letitia will inherit the vast estate. However, there is also the complication of Pip and Emma, Goedler's sister's children. There is not much known about them.

Molly is almost murdered, but Miss Marple and Jason Rafiel, a wealthy old man who will be mentioned in "Nemesis" prevent this. This is Miss Marple's first journey out of England, in her published books.

Miss Marple knew Carrie Louise Serracold - Lewis's wife who has been married several times - and her sister Ruth van Rydock, when they were young together. Ruth is concerned that somebody is trying to poison Carrie Louise so Miss Marple goes to stay at Stoneygates.

This book was first published in 1962. Many years after 'The Body in the Library', Gossington Hall reappears. Marina Gregg, the American actress and her husband, Jason Rudd, now own it. They hold a garden party for the St. John's Ambulance. However, a guest soon dies. Miss Marple is in poor health, so is being cared for a Miss Knight.

This arrangement is not working out. Miss Knight is not seen in other Miss Marple novels.
14. N is for "Nemesis". Miss Marple reads of the death of Jason Rafiel, who she met in "A Caribbean Mystery". Rafiel wrote to Miss Marple, before his death - the letter was delivered after his death. He wants her to find out if his son, Michael, really murdered his girlfriend, Verity Hunt. What does Verity mean?

This book was first published in 1971. Miss Marple is sent on a coach-touring holiday, again paid by Mr Rafiel. She manages to uncover the truth about Verity's death.

Jerry is injured during the war, and needs to recuperate. The village is not as quiet as it seems, however, when there are Poison Pen letters being sent. At the end of the book, both the Burton's are in love - Jerry with Megan Hunter while Joanna is in love with the local Doctor.

This book was first published in 1952. Carrie Louise has got several stepchildren, who all consider her their mother, as well as her own daughter. Her granddaughter, Gina Hudd, also lives at Stoneygates, with her American husband.
