24. In "The Tuesday Night Club", how much is Mr Jones to benefit by, from his wife's death?
From Quiz "The Thirteen Problems" by Agatha Christie
Answer:
£8,000
Raymond West, Miss Marple's nephew, decides to create a club. Each person in the club must tell a mystery story, to which only they know the answer, and the other members have to figure it out. The storyteller can change names. There is Raymond himself (a writer), Joyce Lempriére (an artist), Sir Henry Clithering (until lately Commissioner of Scotland Yard), Dr Pender (elderly clergyman of the parish), Mr Petherick (the solicitor) and finally Miss Marple. In "The Tuesday Night Club", Sir Henry tells the story of a Mrs Jones who dies from food poisoning, but all is not what it seems. Miss Marple solves the mystery with the mention of "Hundreds and Thousands".
