Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As the story begins, what is our number one hyperactive ninja Naruto doing when he first appears in the Manga?

Answer: Painting the Hokage Monument

For Naruto, growing up as an orphan and being hated by most of the villagers made him an outcast. Not having any friends or family to bond with, Naruto found another way to interact with people ... making trouble, a lot of it.

For some the answers might be confusing, because in the Manga he is painting the Hokage Monument, which is the correct answer, but in the Anime he is being chased.
2. To become a ninja, one must attend and graduate from the Ninja Academy. Naruto was never the brightest student, nor the most skillful one. As a matter of fact, Naruto had the worst grades in his class. When time came for the graduation exam, how many times did Naruto fail?

Answer: Three

In the series, only the third one was shown while the other two were only mentioned. The exam was to perform the Clone technique, an E-Rank Ninjutsu (Ninja technique) that can create mirage copies of oneself.

Naruto finally graduates after defeating Mizuki, the traitor ninja that tricked him into stealing the Scroll of Seals, from where Naruto learns the Multiple Shadow Clone technique, an A-Rank Ninjutsu/Kinjutsu (Forbidden technique).

The entering and graduation age for the Academy is not specific. It all depends on the student's knowledge and skill. For example, Kakashi graduated at the age of only five, Itachi at seven, while Naruto's generation all graduated at the age of twelve.
3. Konohamaru, the grandson of the Third Hokage, who wanted to beat his grandfather in a duel and thus surpass him, was not happy with his personal tutor Ebisu and wanted Naruto to become his boss/teacher. What technique did Naruto teach Konohamaru?

Answer: Transformation technique

Most of you know it as the "Sexy technique", but it is basically just the Transformation technique re-named by Naruto. Its main purpose is to distract the opponent by transforming into a naked, sexy girl.

Naruto had an advanced version of this technique, called the "Harem technique", which was a combination of the Transformation and Shadow Clone techniques.
4. Not having anyone to look after him, Naruto grew up careless. His manners and habits in every day life were a mess. Before forming the three man squads of the new graduates, what did Naruto eat/drink that gave him a bad stomach ache, from which he spent all day in the bathroom?

Answer: Milk

The Third Hokage and Kakashi Hatake, the newly appointed leader of Naruto's three man squad, visited Naruto's home during his absence and discovered a carton of milk that had gone bad for a while.

In Kakashi's Team 7, alongside Naruto, Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno were assigned too. Naruto was conflicted why a "great" ninja like him had to be in the same team as a "loser" like Sasuke, which in reality was the other way around. They put the the class's best student with the worst one.
5. The day has come for Team 7 to meet their Jonin leader, Kakashi Hatake. But, unfortunately, Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura have to also learn to bear with Kakashi's habit - always being late. Naruto, being the number one unpredictable ninja, decided to mess with their new teacher. What fell on Kakashi's head, when Naruto pranked him in the class room?

Answer: Chalkduster

Only the very best ninja are promoted to the rank of Jonin (High Ninja). Generally they must be skilled in all the main three technique types: Ninjutsu (ninja techniques), Genjutsu (illusionary techniques) and Taijutsu (body techniques). They are military captains, team leaders, assigned to the most difficult missions.

Tokubetsu Jonin (Special High Ninja) is a Jonin with specialised skills, such as elite trainers, interrogators, exam proctors, etc.

Jonin Commander is the head of all the Jonin in the village.
6. Kakashi is a big fan of the "Icha Icha" novels, always carrying one with himself for a chance to catch up on the story. But what does "Icha Icha" mean in English?

Answer: Make Out

Written by Jiraiya, the "Icha Icha" are a series of best selling novels. They are adult and comedic. The three main books are named "Paradise", "Violence" and "Tactics".

Before writing the "Icha Icha" novels, in fact his first book was "Tale of the Utterly Gutsy Ninja", whose main character Naruto is named after.
7. Before Team 7's Genin could officially be counted as ninja, they had to pass a survival test. During this test, Kakashi uses an unusual Taijutsu against Naruto. What is the name of this technique?

Answer: One Thousand Years of Death

Genin (Low Ninja) is a newly graduated ninja from the Academy. They are always in a three man squad, lead by a Jonin, on easy, peaceful missions in the village's borders.

Kakashi gave them the "Bell Test" to see if they would learn how to work as a team or just stick for themselves. The test was performed at the Third Training Ground, where the Memorial Stone is located. On it are the names of all the Hidden Leaf's ninja who have been killed in action.
8. Throughout the survival test, it wasn't only Naruto who fell for Kakashi's techniques. Sakura, being the know-it-all rookie ninja, still couldn't see through the Jonin's tricks. What type of technique did Kakashi use on Sakura?

Answer: Genjutsu

He uses a D-Rank Genjutsu, called Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing technique, that makes the target's fears and nightmares "come to life". What Sakura saw was Sasuke clinging for life - stabbed with shurikens and kunais, a twisted leg, am arm torn off.

Unlike Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, which deal physical damage, Genjutsu can inflict mental injuries. They are usually used to knock out opponents, but depending on the level of the technique, Genjutsus can traumatize their targets for long periods ... even kill them.
9. Out of his three students, Kakashi was mostly surprised by Sasuke, being able to use a Fire Release technique at his age. Which technique does Sasuke use against Kakashi?

Answer: Fire Release: Great Fireball technique

This is a C-Rank Ninjutsu, mostly used by the members of the Uchiha Clan, until their unfortunate demise. Only when an Uchiha learns this technique are they considered an adult. Sasuke, like his brother Itachi, both learned this technique from their father Fugaku.
10. What two hand seals did Sasuke use to build up his Chakra for the Fire Release technique?

Answer: Tiger and Horse (Tora and Uma)

There are twelve basic hand seals, which are based on the twelve signs of the Chinese Zodiac: Rat (Ne), Ox (Ushi), Tiger (Tora), Hare (U), Dragon (Tatsu), Snake (Mi), Horse (Uma), Ram (Hitsuji), Monkey (Saru), Bird (Tori), Dog (Inu) and Boar (I).

Besides these, there are other many unique hand seals used for specific techniques. But the usage of techniques can differ from ninja to ninja, as some are much more skilled than others, such as using fewer hand seals or even performing them with one hand.
