The local business man has been kidnapped and presumed murdered. Masked men had broken into his house and tied up his wife. Hastings meets his future wife, Dulcie Duveen, whom he nicknames "Cinderella", in this book. The book was first published in 1923.

The story is set in post-war England. Poirot solves the mystery with the aid of a new detective, Superintendent Spence, who will appear in three later novels. First published in 1948.

Answer: "After The Funeral"

This is also known as "Murder At The Gallop" and "Funerals Are Fatal". Mr Goby, an eccentric investigator who last assisted Poirot in "The Blue Train Mystery", helps Poirot again. The book was first published in 1953.

Answer: "Dead Man's Folly"

"The Mirror Crack'd From Side To Side" is a Miss Marple mystery. This story also stars Mrs Ariadne Oliver, the famous mystery writer, who has organised a murder game, at the fete. Her friend, Poirot, comes to help her solve the crime. The book was first published in 1956.
