The Elworthys who bought the house after Mrs. Findeyson died changed the name to Hillside. They felt St. Catherine's sounded too 'Popish'.
2. In which country had Gwenda been raised?

Answer: New Zealand

She was born in India but after her mother's death Major Halliday had returned to England with her. After Helen's death, however, he had sent her to New Zealand to be looked after by her mother's sister and checked himself into a sanatorium.
3. Which play was Gwenda watching when she suddenly remembered having seen Helen's dead body as a child?

Answer: Duchess of Malfi

Gwenda had heard the killer reciting the lines 'Cover her face, mine eyes dazzle, she died young.' Hearing them again while watching the play brought back memories she had suppressed all these years.
