Strength in the One Power Trivia Quiz

Answer: Lelaine Akashi and Romanda Cassin

Lelaine is a Sitter for the Blue Ajah in the Hall of the Tower in exile. Romanda, her fierce rival, is a Sitter for the Yellow Ajah in the Hall of the Tower in Exile, who had previously retired. After the Tower split, Romanda returned. Before her retirement, she had been a Sitter for about 80 years, an amazing achievment.

In fact, Romanda is probably as old as Cadsuane Melaidhrin and the Namelle sisters, the oldest Aes Sedai we have met (the Namelle sisters first appeared in 'The Great Hunt' and Cadsuane in 'A Crown of Swords'). Cadsuane describes Romanda as 'as old as I am' in 'New Spring'.

Answer: Queen Morgase Trakhand

Morgase can channel, but so weakly that it takes her fifty attempts to even reach the Source! Sorilea is very weak in the Power, though she can at least make weaves. Alise is about the same strength as Sorilea, while White Sister Daigian, the weakest Aes Sedai we have met, is so weak she has to defer to practically every sister she meets.

Answer: Tamela and Viendre

Tamela and Viendre are probably as strong as Moghedien, the weakest female Forsaken. Monaelle is so weak, Elayne thinks she probably wouldn't have made it to Accepted in the White Tower. Amys, on the other hand, can channel as strongly as 'any Aes Sedai Egwene had yet met' so she is as strong as Moiraine. Bair cannot channel, while Melaine, Egwene tells us, is as strong as Faolain, an Accepted of middling strength. Edarra and Leyn are both reasonably strong, Merana Sedai says.

Answer: Merilille Ceandevin

We know that Merilille is not strong enough to Travel, since Reanne Corly of the Kin has to open gateways for her. Reanne, Elayne says, is as strong as Sheriam Sedai. Kiruna, we know, is stronger than Merana, since Merana has to defer to her in the Salidar embassy to Rand. Alanna is as strong as Verin and Merana, and we find out in 'Winter's Heart' that she is strong enough to Travel.

Answer: Merean Redhill

Merean, Moiraine tells us in 'New Spring', is almost as strong as she will be when she is at full potential, i.e. as strong as, say, Sheriam. Alviarin, Mesaana says, is just strong enough to Travel. Liandrin is weaker than Moiraine and Anaiya, but stronger than all the other Black sisters she takes with her when she leaves the Tower. Elza must be a lot weaker than Cadsuane, since Cadsuane expects her to obey, rather than defer.

Answer: Garenia

Garenia (or Zarya, as is her real name) ran away from the White Tower as a novice. She is described as stronger than Reanne and Kirstian, who are as strong as Sheriam, so she is about Moiraine's strength. Asra is very weak in the Power; Sumeko's strength is average, but she is a great Healer.

Answer: Someryn

Someryn is a Shaido Wise One. After meeting the Forsaken Graendal, who was disgiused, Someryn describes her as very powerful, and Sevanna notes that Someryn has never met anyone of her own strength before. She must be very strong indeed. Also, Graendal herself, who is extremely strong in the Power, describes Someryn as 'not negligible'.

Answer: Careane Fransi

Careane is the weakest and Merilille the strongest, though she is only of average strength and not strong enough to Travel. Sareitha and Vandene are probably about equal, stronger than Careane but weaker than Merilille. It should be noted that all of these women are suspects in the murder of Ispan and Adeleas.

Answer: Kiruna Nachiman and Bera Harkin

Kiruna and Bera (both Green Ajah) are quite strong by Aes Sedai standards. Faeldrin (Green) stands a step lower, as does Rafela (Blue Ajah). Merana (Grey) and Seonid (Green) stand lower still, and Valinde (White Ajah) and Berenicia (Yellow) are the weakest.

Answer: Doesine

Saerin (Brown), Yukiri (Grey) and Pevara (Red) are equal. Doesine (Yellow) and Seaine (White) stand a little lower, with Talene, the Green Sitter they reveal as Black Ajah, is somewhere in between.
