Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Tall, Dark and Gruesome", published 1977 and updated 1997

Answer: Christopher Lee

Sir Christopher Frank Carandini Lee (1922-2015) was an actor known for his many villain roles, and one of his early iconic roles was that of Count Dracula during a series of films (ten times!) in the 1960s and '70s. Truly, "Tall, Dark and Gruesome" was an apt choice for this memoir, recounting his early years of his long career.

The book was republished in 1997 with updated information, new photos and with some Americanized terminology.
2. "Leading with My Chin", published 1996

Answer: Jay Leno

Jay Leno (born James Douglas Muir Leno) recounts many stories from his childhood and early career that led ultimately to his stint as the host of "The Tonight Show", a role which he held from 1992 until 2009, well after this memoir was published. While the content is from Jay Leno, the book was written by Bill Zehme.
3. "KISS and Make-Up", published 2001

Answer: Gene Simmons

Gene Simmons (born with the name Chaim Witz) is well-known as the front man of the rock band KISS, with all of the heavy make-up and outlandish outfits (and controversy) that they are known for. In this memoir, Gene focuses more on himself and his rise to stardom than on the band, although one cannot tell a story about one without the other.
4. "SeinLanguage", published 1993

Answer: Jerry Seinfeld

Jerome Allen Seinfeld had already been noticed as a great up-and-coming comedian in the 1970s, but it was the television show 'about nothing' that made him famous. "Seinfeld" ran from 1989 to 1998, and the humour in the show is reflected in "SeinLanguage", where Seinfeld loves to take a look at the everyday minutiae of life, as experienced by himself over the years.
5. "Losing My Virginity", published 1998 and updated 2005

Answer: Richard Branson

Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson is a business magnate known primarily for having founded Virgin Group Ltd. It began with a mail-order record business (Virgin Records) that became a physical shop, then a chain of shops, then a recording company, etc. His Virgin Group Ltd. went on to branch out into many other fields.

The title of this autobiography refers not only to the name of his business conglomerate, but from how he went from being a 'virgin' at business (where the company name came from) to his many successes.
6. "They Made a Monkee Out of Me", published 1987

Answer: Davy Jones

David Thomas Jones (1945-2012) was a member of the 1960s band The Monkees, almost exclusively as a singer, although he could play drums and keyboard in his own right. In "They Made a Monkee Out of Me" (written by Alan Green in conversation with Davy Jones), Jones tells of his life experiences, including the incredible whirlwind that was his time with The Monkees.
7. "Out of Sync", published 2007

Answer: Lance Bass

James Lance Bass was the bass singer of the boy band NSYNC (or 'N Sync) in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In his autobiography, Bass tells of his childhood, his rise to fame with the band, and many of the struggles along the way, including his sexuality (coming out in 2006) and his efforts to go to space.
8. "Sly Moves", published 2005

Answer: Sylvester Stallone

Sylvester Enzio Stallone struggled to make it as an actor in the 1970s, but eventually became a household name with the "Rocky" movies, and the many other action movies that followed. His book actually comes with a subtitle, which is kind of needed as it covers a lot of ground: "Sly Moves: My Proven Program to Lose Weight, Build Strength, Gain Will Power, and Live Your Dream". Stallone intersperses his health and fitness program with anecdotes of life and the struggles and triumphs he experienced.
9. "My Word is my Bond: A Memoir", published 2008

Answer: Roger Moore

Sir Roger George Moore (1927-2017) had a long career that was certainly more than just his role as James Bond (for seven films between 1973 and 1985), but it became the role with which he was most often identified. His memoir "My Word is my Bond" lets the reader in to the rest of his life and career from the beginning, including a hefty portion on his experiences filming the Bond movies.
10. "The Stone Cold Truth", published 2001

Answer: Steve Austin

Steve Austin (born Steven James Anderson) is better known by his wrestling name Stone Cold Steve Austin, which was not his first stage name, having already used "Stunning" Steve Austin (1991-95) and The Ringmaster (1995-96) before settling on "Stone Cold" in 1996 for the rest of his career.

"The Stone Cold Truth" is Austin's story, with Jim J.R. Ross (WWE commentator), as told to Dennis A. Brent (the writer).
