Joyce tells this story which happened when she was travelling and sketching one summer in a place called Rathole.

2. Joyce set up her equipment and began sketching an inn. What was the name of this inn?

Answer: Polharwith Arms

She says that it was the last building standing in Rathole after the coastline was attacked during the Spanish Armada.

3. What colour was Carol wearing when Joyce first saw her get out of the car?

She can't really describe the woman but she describes the dress with scarlet poinsettias on it and the scarlet hat that she wore with it.

He recognises Carol as an old friend and takes her inside to meet his wife. They decide to go out and they all go off together round the cliffs.
