After swimming to shore from the Poco Bonito, Flidais (aka Rita) entered the Rio Colorado Sport Fishing Lodge pretending to be a guest of the resort. She entered a guest room and called Epona, who arranged for a plane to pick Flidais up at the nearby airport. Flidais then stole clothing, money, a purse, and identification from the room.

She impersonated the room's occupant, Barbara Hacken, and had a courtesy car from the resort take her to the airport. From there, she boarded the Odyssey plane sent by Epona, and made good her escape.

Rathbone told Pitt and Giordino that the government did not permit tourists to visit El Castillo any longer. They claimed that the tourists were damaging the historical site. Rathbone also said that El Castillo was heavily guarded, and that one man who had tried to sneak past in had been killed.

When Pitt and Giordino broke into El Castillo, the guards had lazily allowed the dogs to run free while they remained in the guardhouse. Since their boat was hidden, everyone would assume they had continued on their voyage down the river. By distracting the dogs with a tasty snack and blacking out the lens of the security camera, the two were able to break in unnoticed.

As soon as they were inside the Odyssey facility, Pitt and Giordino knocked out two employees and stole their jumpsuits. They took the golf cart for transportation as they surveyed the tunnel system, and stole the security car as they were planning their escape.

Answer: The Trojan War actually took place in England.

From his research, Dr. Boyd concluded that the Trojan War did not take place on the Turkish coast, as had previously been believed. Instead, it occurred in Cambridge, England, near the North Sea. Odysseus' historic voyage home from the war took place in the Atlantic Ocean.

Answer: The tunnels were created to divert the South Equatorial Current.

If the South Equatorial Current was diverted from Africa into the Caribbean Sea, the result would be an eight degree drop in the temperature of the Gulf Stream by the time it reached Europe. This would lead to a new Ice Age in much of Europe and parts of the eastern United States.

Answer: He noticed that Concepcion, the active volcanco on Ometepe, was beginning to erupt.

Pitt noticed wisps of smoke coming from Concepcion, indicating it was an active volcano. However, there was no evidence of an impending eruption. Luckily, the NUMA-chartered rescue helicopter arrived in time for Pitt and Giordino to make good their escape.
