Jim Carrey showed us just how rubbery his face was in this weird comedy that costarred Cameron Diaz and Peter Greene. Carrey plays a bank clerk who finds a mysterious mask. When the mask is on, Carrey is charismatic and suave - the man of his dreams (and of Cameron Diaz's).

Madeleine Stowe, Mary Stuart Masterson, Andie MacDowell, and Drew Barrymore play prostitutes who are on the run from questionable justice in this Old West adventure.

Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell star in this British romantic comedy about the quest for love. Kristin Scott Thomas and John Hannah have supporting roles. It was directed by Mike Newell, the same man who did 'Donnie Brasco' and 'Pushing Tin'.

Answer: It Could Happen To You

Nicolas Cage plays the cop to Bridget Fonda's waitress in this cute romance. Cage doesn't have the money to leave a tip, so he tells the waitress that if he wins the lottery, he'll split it with her. She doesn't buy it, but when he wins, he holds true to his word.

The benevolent ways in which Fonda spends the money (in sharp contrast to the self-serving spending of Cage's wife, played by Rosie Perez) of course results in love.

Answer: Getting In

Stephen Mailer gets waitlisted at Johns Hopkins. He decided to bribe the people ahead of him on the list to better his chances of getting in, but everyone who takes the payoff gets killed and he starts to look like a prime suspect. Kristy Swanson and Andrew McCarthy costar. Doug Liman ('Swingers', 'Go' and 'The Bourne Identity') directed.

This movie centers on the youth culture that engages in ram-raiding, the driving of cars into shop windows. Jude Law and Sadie Frost star.

Toni Collette plays Muriel, an unhappy Australian woman who dreams of a better life (including ABBA and marriage) and takes steps to reach it. Written and directed by P.J. Hogan.

A minister (Hugh Grant) and his wife visit an 'amoral' artist (Sam Neill) who lives with sexually free models (Elle Macpherson and Portia de Rossi among them) to try to convince him to change his ways. The minister and his wife end up finding themselves doing most of the changing. Written and directed by John Dugan.

Answer: The Last Seduction

Linda Fiorentino plays a femme fatale who steals money from her husband (Bill Pullman) and heads off to live a new life, including a new lover (Peter Berg). She pulls the new lover into her schemes, planning for him to kill her husband so as to get rid of him permanently.

Answer: Spanking the Monkey

Jeremy Davies stars as a med student forced to give up an internship to care for his injured mother. Oedipal situations ensue. David O. Russell wrote and directed.

Answer: Blank Check

This kids movie is about a kid who finds a blank check, smartly fills it out to himself for a million dollars, and is pursued by the gangsters who want their money back. Brian Bonsall (of 'Mikey') and Karen Duffy star.

Answer: The Specialist

Sylvester Stallone, Sharon Stone, and James Woods star in this action film about a government-trained bomb expert (Stallone) hired to help a woman (Stone) exact revenge for her parents' murders.

Answer: My Father the Hero

Gerard Depardieu takes his unappreciative daughter (Katherine Heigl) on an island vacation. While there, she lies about pretty much everything and falls in love.

Answer: Speechless

Michael Keaton and Geena Davis play political speechwriters who fall in love, only to find they are working for opposite sides of a campaign.

Answer: No Escape

Ray Liotta plays a criminal sent to Absolom, a sort of 'Island of Dr. Moreau' concept for criminals - where they live alone by their own rules. No one has ever escaped the island, thus no one knows what goes on there. Lance Henriksen and Kevin Dillon costar.

Answer: Frankenstein

Kenneth Branagh directed and starred as Victor Frankenstein in this adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic horror novel. Robert De Niro is almost unrecognizable (in a genius way) as the creature. Helena Bonham Carter plays Victor's friend and betrothed, who is brutally murdered by the monster in a savage plea for help.

The movie played with the way time was presented so that things happened in chronological order (an improvement from the book, in my opinion). Other than that, better to just read the darn thing.
