Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Tom Cruise: A drifter, former US Army Police Corps, investigates the supposed shooting of five people by a former US Army sniper in which of the following?

Answer: Jack Reacher

A man enters a parking garage in his van. He places a quarter into the parking meter, sets up his sniper rifle and shoots five people before fleeing the scene. The police lift a print off the quarter in the parking meter, identify the person as a US Army sniper, raid his home and find him and the evidence, they feel they need, inside his home. They offer him life in prison or death row. He reaches for a note pad and simply writes "Get Jack Reacher". How Reacher solves this puzzle... well, I can't tell you that. That would spoil it all.

Tom Cruise's signing to play Reacher in this 2012 action film was met with derision by fans of the books written by Lee Child, mainly because Reacher, in the novels, is significantly tall. Child, for his part, was philosophical about the choice; "you may find someone with 100% of the height but they'll only give you 90% of Reacher. With Cruise, you'll get 100% of Reacher but only 90% of the height".
2. Bruce Willis: Police officer John Hartigan saves a child from being raped but incurs the wrath of a powerful senator in which film?

Answer: Sin City

"Sin City" is a 2005 crime anthology built around, predominantly, three Frank Miller graphic novels. One of those sees Officer Hartigan (Willis) on the trail of a seriously disfigured serial child murderer who has his sights on eleven year-old Nancy. The problem for Hartigan is that the killer (played by Nick Stahl) is the son of US Senator Roark, played by Powers Booth. Roark turns a blind eye to his son's evil ways and has paid off the police on several occasions to do likewise.

He now pays Hartigan's partner to take "care" of Hartigan himself.
3. Sylvester Stallone: In which film is he a mob enforcer who returns home to look into his brother's "accidental" death?

Answer: Get Carter

Stallone is Jack Carter in this film, a remake of the 1971 film (with the same name) that starred Michael Caine in the title role. Caine, this time, takes on the role of Cliff Brumby, one of the people involved in the murder of Carter's brother. Suspicious at the start about his brother's death, Carter starts a series of enquiries that lead him toward a club that is owned by Brumby that Carter's brother used to manage.

In the process he uncovers a web of prostitution and porn. The film also stars Miranda Richardson and Mickey Rourke.
4. Jackie Chan: Which of these movies sees him as a taxi driver who winds up working for a super spy and saves the world from a terrorist group looking to take over the Earth's drinking water supply?

Answer: The Tuxedo

Jackie Chan's James Tong (Oh I love that little play on "James Bond") is a man with a need for speed, which proves to be highly effective in his job as a taxi driver. He develops a reputation for getting people where they need to be when they need to be there.

This attracts the attention of Clark Devlin (Jason Isaacs) who employs James as his chauffer. James doesn't know that Devlin is a super spy who is aided by powers built into a special suit, controlled via a special watch. When the terrorist organisation takes Devlin out and places him into a coma, James dons the suit, assumes Devlin's identity and sets out to save the world with the help of Delilah (Jennifer Love Hewitt), a genius scientist.
5. Keanu Reeves: His name in which film is Lucas Hill and he deals in diamonds of questionable origin?

Answer: Siberia

Lucas Hill has a blue diamond for sale and he travels to Russia to seal a lucrative deal. However, it doesn't take long before the sale heads "south" and the smart thing for Lucas to do is to cut and run. Does he? No. He falls for a Russian café owner and soon becomes obsessed with the lady, to the point that his chances of getting away are slim.

This 2018 thriller also features Ana Ularu and Molly Ringwald.
6. Chuck Norris: While investigating a murder, Chuck finds himself on the trail of Prosatanos, an emissary of Satan in which film?

Answer: Hellbound

A rabbi is brutally murdered and Sgt. Frank Shatter (Norris) and his partner are called upon to investigate. The trail takes them to Israel where they first encounter Prosatanos, a being who had previously tried to take over the world. This event had occurred during the Crusades and, on that occasion, he was stopped in his tracks by King Richard I, of England. Richard had sealed him in a tomb, broke his sceptre, which was the source of his power, into nine pieces and then scattered the pieces across the globe.

The Devil's emissary has broken free, thanks to some overly ambitious grave robbers, and he is trying to put his sceptre together but with Chuck on his trail... the news for him is not so good.
7. Mel Gibson: In which of the following movies is, after a successful heist, Mel Gibson double crossed, shot and left for dead?

Answer: Payback

Mel Gibson is Porter who has been shot in the back by his wife, who then shoots through with her accomplice, Porter's partner in crime (Val), with the $140,000 they've stolen from a Chinese Triad. The problem is she didn't finish Porter off. He is operated on by a shonky doctor and spends five months recuperating.

In the meantime Val has used the money to clear a large debt that he had and has bought his way into an organisation called the Outfit. So, when Porter arrives seeking his share of the money Val doesn't have it, saying that it's now in the hands of the Outfit. Porter then demands the money from the Outfit and it isn't long before the shooting starts and Porter has both the Outfit and the Chinese Triad after him.
8. Liam Neeson: Neeson is John Smith, a US Special Forces officer, who winds up in jail after his illegal mission fails. He escapes and, with his men, sets out to prove his innocence. This is the basis for which of these films?

Answer: The A-Team

Four US soldiers, including John "Hannibal" Smith, succeed in their mission to recover some plates for printing money and over one billion dollars in counterfeit cash. However, on their return to safety, they are double crossed, their base is destroyed, the plates and money are stolen and their commander, the only person who could prove that their mission was authorised, has been, apparently, blown to bits. Six months later, the same plates are now on the market and the CIA is seeking Hannibal's help to recover them (again) in exchange for a clean slate.
9. George Clooney: In what movie do George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg, Ice Cube, and Spike Jonze set out on a gold heist?

Answer: Three Kings

The four men are soldiers who are part of a bored clean-up team in the aftermath of the Persian Gulf War. They hear of a large cache of gold that had been stolen from Kuwait and they decide to steal it for themselves. What initially starts out as lark turns into a series of heroic challenges as they discover a host of people who need their assistance.

The men don't end up with the gold but their lives are forever changed. This 1999 adventure film was directed by David O. Russell.
10. Brad Pitt: He's a tank commander, behind enemy lines, outmanned, outgunned but refusing to be beaten in which film?

Answer: Fury

In 1945 Germany, Brad Pitt, as Sergeant Don "Wardaddy" Collier, has seen numerous battles and has, at his disposal, a tough and hardened team. All except his gunner who was killed in the previous battle and has been replaced by, much to Collier's chagrin, a rookie soldier. Collier is well behind enemy lines, he knows he is alone with his team, he knows that he's badly outnumbered but, he also knows that if his team can hold the crossroads that they're at long enough it will open the door to a decisive Allied victory. Directed by David Ayer, the film was released in 2014 and also starred Shia LaBeouf and Logan Lerman.
