Gina Rodriguez was born in the city of Chicago in 1984 and, before reaching stardom in "Jane the Virgin", she appeared in the soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful" and was the lead actress in the 2012 film "Filly Brown". Her breakthrough performance began in 2014 as Jane Villanueva on the CW show "Jane the Virgin" that ran until 2019.

In "Awake" Jill Adams is a former U.S. Army medic who works as a security guard trying to provide for herself and her kids.

The film opens with Jill entering work and giving the security guard monitoring the cameras a $20 bill. She then proceeds to steal pills after the other guard turns off the cameras. Later Jill sells these pills to someone at a car repair shop that shorts her $20 after the container has only 29 pills instead of 30.

Answer: Driving a car

Jill is driving her son Noah and her daughter Matilda in her car when her radio stops working for no reason. Her car is also unresponsive and they get rammed by an out-of-control police car that causes their car to go into a lake. The car sinks and they are barely able to make it out alive.

Answer: Matilda can sleep.

The event that causes all of the electric power to not function in the film "Awake" also makes people not be able to sleep. Over time this lack of sleep impairs cognition and eventually hallucinations and psychosis develop. When Jill tells Brian that her daughter Matilda slept the night before he implores her to bring Jill to the 'Hub' to help humanity find a cure for the pervasive sleeplessness.

Answer: A police officer

When the congregation hears that Matilda is able to sleep they are furious and want to sacrifice her. The pastor vehemently opposes this and tells them to calm down and that 'miracles spread'. When Jill and Brian arrive and try to take Matilda away the police officer states "God spoke to me pastor, we can't let her leave".

The officer shoots Brian in the head and then points his gun at Matilda's grandmother Doris. Eventually Jill and her children are able to escape the church.

Jill is able to obtain an older car that functions and goes to the library to look at maps to find the 'Hub'. When they are in the library they hear that someone has taken their car with Matilda inside. Dodge pulls the car up and tells Jill and Noah to get in as the other convicts are about to attack them.

Answer: Writing down long numbers from memory after reading them

Three times during the film Jill reads a 10 digit number and then tries to write down the number from her short-term memory. On the second day of no sleep she is able to right down 8 out of 10 but then on day four and beyond she is unable to remember most of the numbers.

Answer: A soldier yells "grenade" after kicking a pine cone.

The soldiers get periodic injections of a 'cocktail' that is supposed to improve their mental acuity. However, after six days without sleep hallucinations and psychosis develop. After the solider kicks a pine cone and yells grenade mayhem ensues with soldiers shooting each other and the medical staff. Luckily Jill, Matilda and Noah are away from the gunfire and avoid getting shot.

Answer: Resuscitate him with a defibrillator

As Noah is hallucinating he says that his father told him "you cut the fish from the head to the tail". Unfortunately what he is really cutting is a cord that ends up electrocuting him. His sister Matilda sees this happening and runs to get a defibrillator to try and resuscitate him. Noah eventually starts breathing and tells Matilda that he had been dreaming.

Answer: Drown her

Noah and Matilda know that the only way to be able to sleep is to temporarily die and then be revived. They conclude the best way to do this to their mom is to drown her in a lake and then resuscitate her right after. The film ends with Jill opening her eyes while taking a deep breath.
