"Death on the Nile" - the Big Reveal Quiz
Unlike "Murder on the Orient Express", which has one victim with many possible killers, "Death on the Nile" (2022) does not lack for a body count. This quiz deals mostly with Poirot's conclusions and solutions.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Pushes the rock at Temple of Abu Simbel
Answer: Andrew Katchadourian
Andrew is usually called 'Cousin' by Linnet, as they have known each other since they were young. At one point he confesses to being in love with Linnet. He and his firm are in charge of Linnet's financial affairs. In fact he presents her with a number of documents to be signed, including the new will which leaves most of her estate to her new husband.
Poirot has figured out that 'Cousin Andrew' has been fiddling with the books and stealing money from Linnet for a while. He also deduces that it was Andrew who pushed the brick down that almost hit Simon and Linnet at the Temple.
Andrew admits to both, claiming that he didn't know what possessed him but saw the opportunity and acted.
At the end of the film he says to Poirot that he reckons he will be arrested. Poirot says no, not if he stops his theft and repays everything he stole.
2. Hires Poirot to investigate Rosalie
Answer: Euphemia Bouc
Poirot apologizes to Bouc for having lied to him earlier when Bouc asked him if he was on a case. He reveals that Bouc's mother hired him to investigate Rosalie, the woman Bouc loves.
Bouc asks his mother how she could have done that and she replies, "I'm your mother and I have done far worse."
Bouc points out that he doesn't need his mother's permission but would like her blessing. Being an extremely bitter woman she tells him that he will never have it. She is determined to save her son from the heartache of love, which never ends well as far as she is concerned.
3. Shoots (but does not kill) Simon
Answer: Simon Doyle
After Linnet has gone to bed, Simon starts an argument with Jackie, telling her that he was sick of her and never really loved her. She reacts by 'shooting' him in the leg. He immediately holds the alleged injury with a cloth stained in 'blood'. She aims the gun at herself and is disarmed, with the gun falling and being kicked under the furniture. Someone runs to get the doctor and someone else takes Jackie away to be tended by the nurse.
The doctor arrives and takes Simon back to his room and stays with him overnight.
Poirot later reveals that the cloth that Simon clutched against his leg was red with paint, stolen from Euphemia. Simon actually shoots himself with the gun he retrieves from under the furniture, so there is a real injury for the doctor to attend to.
4. Steals the necklace from Linnet's room
Answer: Bouc
Bouc enters Linnet's room to tell her about Simon being shot, finding her dead, having herself been shot in the head. He seizes the moment and pockets her very expensive diamond necklace that is a wedding present (bought with her money) from Simon. After its loss has been discovered, Bouc hides it in a drawer in his mother's room.
He admits this when being questioned by Poirot, saying he thought it was a way he could achieve financial independence so that he could marry Rosalie without his mother's blessing and support.
5. Kills Louise
Answer: Jackie de Bellefort
After the discovery of Linnet's murder, everyone is questioned. Louise reveals, rather obliquely, that she might have seen something.
She is dramatically found, caught up in the paddle wheels of the boat, having had her throat cut by a scalpel that has been taken from Doctor Windlesham's set. Louise is found with a wad of cash, leaving Poirot to surmise that she had attempted a bit of blackmail.
As part of the larger scheme, Poirot reveals that Jackie is the one who killed her.
6. Has a .22 caliber gun in a hat
Answer: Salome Otterbourne
Salome, the jazz singer seen performing at beginning and end of the movie, always wears a turban-like hat. When questioning her, Poirot mentions that it is out of fashion to which she cheekily replies "Not when I wear it."
At his request, she removes the hat to reveal a .22 caliber gun nestled within.
She offers up the information that it is loaded, has been fired and she has shot a person. When asked if she shot Linnet, who was not only killed with a .22 but had also made racist remarks about Salome years before, Salome replies that if she'd shot everyone who tried to put her in her place, the world would be "littered with dead, white ladies".
7. Kills Bouc
Answer: Jackie de Bellefort
When examining the place where Louise had her throat cut, Poirot notices a large spot on the wall not covered in blood spatter and concludes, from the shape, that someone saw the murder being done. Bouc's coat, which Poirot notices he is not wearing, is covered in blood and, in flashback, we see it being thrown overboard.
Poirot confronts Bouc, telling him that he cannot let a killer go free to protect himself. Bouc opens his mouth to speak but is shot to stop him. Poirot later reveals that it was Jackie who did so.
8. Kills Linnet
Answer: Simon Doyle
In Poirot's grand reveal (and in flashback) we learn that Jackie and Simon are still in love and the whole thing is cooked up to get Linnet's money.
Before the fight was staged, and the fake shot, Simon and Linnet tell Poirot that they have decided to go home. Despite protestations that he is not made for champagne, Poirot is coaxed into having a glass with them to celebrate their decision. The champagne is drugged, causing Poirot to pass out in his room and sleep through the little play that follows.
With Simon presumably shot and Jackie acting suicidally, everyone present at the scene leaves to look after the pair. Once alone, Simon retrieves the gun from under the furniture, goes to their room and shoots Linnet, rushing back to shoot himself (muffling the sound with a scarf that was reported missing). He wraps the gun and his fake compress, with paint on it instead of blood, into the scarf and tosses it overboard. It is found when the river is dredged and Poirot produces proof, by the way the substance reacted with water, that it is paint on the compress, not blood.
9. Kills Simon
Answer: Jackie de Bellefort
After their crimes have been revealed by Poirot, Simon encourages Jackie to make a break for it with him. She plays along and lures him into an embrace. Knowing that they will never get away, she shoots him in the back. The bullet goes through him into her, killing them both and bringing the body count to five.
10. Inherits Linnet's fortune
Answer: Marie Van Schuyler
Marie, Linnet's godmother, is listed in the will as a beneficiary, with Simon due to inherit the bulk of the estate. With Simon dead, Marie stands to inherit the entire estate. Marie is a self-proclaimed communist who has already given away her own fortune, due to her beliefs. Her lover, Mrs. Bowers, informs Poirot that they will probably keep some of the money.
