Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Get back your command. Get it back before you turn into part of this collection. Before you really do grow old."

Answer: Dr. Leonard McCoy

McCoy says this to Admiral Kirk in "The Wrath of Khan" while visiting his home on Kirk's birthday. The collection Bones is talking about is Kirk's antiques.
2. "In just a second, Exec. We're picking up the pieces down here!"

Answer: Cmdr. Montgomery Scott

Following the wormhole incident in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", Scotty is telling the bridge that his status report isn't ready yet. "Exec" refers to the Executive Officer (Commander Will Decker), who had asked for the report.
3. "You do remember how to fire phasers?"

Answer: Cmdr. William Riker

Riker jokingly says this to Worf after the Enterprise-E rescues the crew of the Defiant during the Borg battle in "First Contact".
4. "Is it possible that we two, you and I, have grown so old and so inflexible that we have outlived our usefulness?"

Answer: Capt. Spock

Spock is in his quarters, asking Kirk this question prior to the climax of "The Undiscovered Country".
In several interviews, Leonard Nimoy revealed that this particular line was less Spock talking to Kirk, than it was him talking to William Shatner.
5. "This is how I define 'unwarranted!'"

Answer: Cmdr. Will Decker

When Ilia is abducted by V'Ger in "Star Trek: The Motion Picture", Decker (Stephen Collins) answers Kirk's earlier question of what the defintion of an "unwarranted risk" was. Stephen Collins later went on to star in "7th Heaven" on the WB network.
6. "San Francisco. I was born there."

Answer: Cmdr. Hikaru Sulu

Sulu ventures down Memory Lane as the purloined Klingon Bird of Prey approaches San Francisco in "The Voyage Home".
7. "I've always known I'll die alone."

Answer: Capt. James T. Kirk

After free-falling down El Capitán in "The Final Frontier", Kirk tells Spock and McCoy that he knew he wasn't going to die because his friends were there.
8. "I can hear them."

Answer: Capt. Jean-Luc Picard

Picard tells Troi that he can hear what the Borg are saying in "First Contact".
9. "Sir! He's dead already!"

Answer: Cmdr. Montgomery Scott

Scotty breaks the news to Kirk of Spock's apparent fate at the end of "The Wrath of Khan".
PRODUCTION NOTE -- Rumor has it that McCoy was supposed to deliver this line, but DeForest Kelley said no because his tagline ("He's dead, Jim") had become overused.
10. "Can anybody remember when we used to be explorers?"

Answer: Capt. Jean-Luc Picard

Picard asks this rhetorical question in "Insurrection" when, at least from his perspective, the Enterprise-E has become little more than Starfleet's pleasure yacht.
11. "You're not exactly catching us at our best."

Answer: Adm. James T. Kirk

Kirk says this to Dr. Gillian Taylor (Catherine Hicks) in "The Voyage Home", when it becomes apparent to him that things aren't going very smoothly. Catherine Hicks also starred in "7th Heaven", playing Stephen Collins' wife.
12. "Well, you know what they say, Lieutenant: Be careful what you wish for. You may get it."

Answer: Cmdr. Nyota Uhura

Uhura says this to "Mr. Adventure" in "The Search for Spock", just before Kirk and Co. arrive to be beamed to the Enterprise. As we all know, "Mr. Adventure" was subsequently thrown into the closet.
13. "That suits me. I just bought a boat."

Answer: Capt. Montgomery Scott

Kirk, Scotty, McCoy, Chekov, and Uhura were all puzzled as to why their presence was necessary at the briefing in "The Undiscovered Country", but it was Scotty who made this nautical remark. Doubtful he ever got a chance to use it, though, as he participated in the maiden voyage of the Enterprise-B and then got stuck in a transporter loop for 70+ years!
14. "Computer, remove the plank!"

Answer: Cmdr. Will Riker

When Worf got promoted in "Generations", the ceremony took place in a holodeck re-creation of the HMS Enterprise. To accept his promotion, Worf had to undergo a little hazing first. Suffice it to say that Riker was disappointed that Worf didn't get wet! In my opinion, this is one of the best scenes in this movie!
15. "Definitely feeling aggressive tendencies, sir!"

Answer: Lt. Cmdr. Worf

In "Insurrection", Worf was under orders from Picard to let him know if he began to feel any "aggressive tendencies." After rifle-butting several of those little flying transporter lock injectors, Worf complied with the order!
16. "What are you standing around for? Don't you know a jailbreak when you see one?!"

Answer: Capt. Montgomery Scott

It was Scotty who blew out the wall in the brig of the Enterprise-A to free Kirk, Spock, and Bones in "The Final Frontier". Soon afterward, he boasted about how well he knew the ship and then promptly collided with a bulkhead!
17. "How can you be deaf with ears like that?!"

Answer: Dr. Leonard McCoy

It was McCoy, possessed with Spock's "katra," who delivered this line to the "backwards friend" alien in the famous bar scene from "The Search for Spock".
NOTE: This scene was a tip of the hat to "Star Wars", which was indirectly responsible for Paramount Pictures for green-lighting the first "Star Trek" movie.
18. Name the two people speaking in this scene: "Oh, yes! I hate this! It is revolting!" "More?" "Please."

Answer: Data and Guinan

In "Generations" LaForge had just installed Data's infamous "emotion chip" (first seen in the "TNG" episode "Brothers") and they found their way to Ten-Forward. There, Guinan presents Data with "something new from Forcas III." When Data takes a sip, he discovers he can now taste it and hate it...and he's so thrilled by having an emotional response of any kind, he asks for more.
19. "Don't call me 'Tiny.'"

Answer: Cmdr. Hikaru Sulu

Sulu admonishes a security guard by flipping him over and saying this line during McCoy's breakout from jail in "The Search for Spock".
20. Name the movie in which Kirk delivers the following ending line: "Out there. Thataway."

Answer: Star Trek: The Motion Picture

This order is the final line from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." Here are the closings of the other listed films:
IV - "Let's see what she's got."
V - Kirk, Spock and McCoy sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat."
VI - "Second star to the right, and straight on till morning." (Followed by Kirk's final log entry).
