Answer: Jason Goes to Hell

Jason Vorhees has always been hard to kill and easy to ressurect, but in the ninth "Friday the 13th" film, it gets a little bit ridiculous. When Jason's body is blown apart by a grenade, his demon heart goes on a body-jumping crusade to be reborn through his half-sister.

The series only gets more ludicrous in its next instalment, "Jason X", where our hockey-masked villian is reborn... as a cyborg on a spaceship in the year 2455.

After surviving the Reverse Bear Trap from the first film, it's revealed in "Saw II" that Amanda (Shawnee Smith) is Jigsaw's assistant, though in "Saw III" she proves unworthy and is killed off.

Zep Hindle (Michael Emerson) is forced to assist Jigsaw in the first film, as part of his own trap. Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) and Dr Gordon (Cary Elwes) are both discovered to be long-time willing accomplices in the fifth and seventh films respectively.

Erin is shot repeatedly through the back of the head by a nail-gun in "Final Destination 3", leaving nails protruding through her face while she twitches into death.

"Final Destination 2" sees Evan (David Paetkau) getting into trouble with an apartment fire and a garbage disposal before taking a falling ladder through the eye while trying to escape. The fourth film, titled "The Final Destination", kills off Samantha (Krista Allen) when a rock ricochets from a lawnmower and punches a hole through her head, and the fifth film has Dennis (David Koechner) take a flying wrench through the face.

Justin Long makes a cameo appearance, reprising his role from the first "Jeepers Creepers". In this sequel, a teen football trip turns ugly when the bus is menaced by the winged Creeper, who has mere hours to steal body parts from his chosen victims before returning to hibernation for another 23 years.

The iconic chainsaw hand makes a reappearance in the third film, horror-comedy "Army of Darkness", but is first strapped on in the brilliant second film by "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi.

While the first film in the "Prom Night" series is a straight murder mystery, the three sequels all focus on prom-queen-turned-murderous-ghost Mary Lou Maloney (Lisa Schrage), a promiscuous and unpleasant teenage beauty who goes up in flames on her prom night. She returns 30 years later to wreak bloody, ghoulish revenge on everyone responsible for her death.

Answer: Paranormal Activity 3

Kristi's childhood imaginary friend Toby is first mentioned in the prequel film "Paranormal Activity 3", though it's suggested that Toby is the same malevolent demon that stalks the family in all three films.

"Paranormal Activity: Tokyo Night" was a Japanese film made to cash in on the sudden popularity of the first film. It features the wheelchair-bound Haruka (Noriko Aoyama) having a similar handicam run-in with unpleasant spirits.

Answer: Dream Warriors

Third film "Dream Warriors" has original heroine Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) returning as a psychiatrist helping a ward of children take down the blade-fingered Freddy.

This disturbing scene has Phillip (Bradley Gregg) literally used as Freddy's puppet, being walked off a building and his tendons cut so he falls to his death. However, it was the scene where Freddy's fingers turn to syringes and administer a fatal heroin overdose to Taryn (Jennifer Rubin) that got the film banned in some parts of Australia.

Answer: Survival of the Dead

"Survival of the Dead" is the sixth film in the series, a once-groundbreaking zombie opus that seems to get more disappointing with every instalment. In the sixth film, the Muldoons try to keep the dead alive until they can be cured, forcing them into grisly re-enactments of their previous lives.

Answer: Puppetmaster: The Legacy

In 2004, when writer Charlies Band wanted to put an end to the series that started with 1989's "Puppetmaster", they created this bizarre movie equivalent of a clip show. With less than a half hour of new footage, and running at only 77 minutes all up, this redundant eighth sequel tried to tie up all the plot holes that riddled the series with copious flashbacks. It really didn't help.

For the third film, written by "The Fly" screenwriter Charles Edward Pogue, Norman Bates himself got behind the camera. He only directed one more film, "Lucky Stiff" in 1988, a Christmas horror/comedy.

"Psycho III" was the lowest-grossing film in the franchise, which didn't stop them making a TV pilot titled "Bates Motel", and prequel "Psycho IV: The Beginning".

Despite the military school locale, the final showdown takes place in a carnival, where Andy chases Chucky after a paintball tournament lethally sabotaged by the demon doll.

"Child's Play 3" was the last appearance of Chucky's original nemesis, little Andy, who shreds Chucky into pieces... that Tiffany manages to retrieve and sew back together in "Bride of Chucky", giving Chucky his new scarred look. It's also the last of the "Child's Play" series to be a straight horror movie, before taking a turn into comedy with the later sequels.

Instead of the iconic Myers, "Season of the Witch" is about a evil Irish toymaker who creates magic masks bewitched by a rock from Stonehenge that will kill the wearer when activated by a computer chip. Also, there are androids.

Unsurprisingly, a "Halloween" film without Michael Myers wasn't exactly received well by fans or critics.

After plentiful red herrings, Ghostface is unmasked as Roman (Scott Foley), Sidney's secret half-brother who also coerced Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich) into killing Sidney's mother before the events of the first film. Cotton Weary (Liev Schreiber) is the only innocent on the list, despite being jailed for Sidney's mother's murder. Jill (Emma Roberts) dons the Ghostface costume in "Scream 4", as Sidney's fame-hungry niece.

Answer: Leatherface

Viggo Mortenson appears in the third film - "Leatherface" - as Eddie 'Tex' Sawyer, a member of Leatherface's twisted family. He presents Leatherface with a brand new golden chainsaw, but is burned to death by the end of the film.

"The Next Generation" and "Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre" are two alternate titles for the fourth film, which starred then-unknowns Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey.
