This tear jerking movie from 1970, is based on Jenny, the poor little smart girl and Oliver, the rich and stupid jock. At least this is what Jenny thinks. Jenny and Oliver strike up a romance that grows into a beautiful marriage. When Jenny gets sick Oliver has to struggle through the ordeal and her death. You can see the sad strain on his face, he loved this girl so very much. Ryan O'Neal went on to play Oliver again in the sequel "Oliver's Story".

The sequel came in so far from the original "Love Story".

Fred Gipson not only wrote this novel, but wrote the novels for "Hound-Dog Man" and "Savage Sam". No other movie had an effect on people like this movie did. When you ask someone what two movies they remember as tear jerking films, I almost guarantee that one will be "Old Yeller". I do have to admit that "Radio Flyer" also has a soft spot in my heart.

Answer: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

When E.T. died, my heart just stopped the first time I saw this movie. But when Eliott came to say his farewell to E.T. and you saw his little belly glowing, my tears didn't stop flowing. Hey, notice the rhyme there? Cool huh? Anyhow, then the flowers came back to life and everything was wonderful again. I'm still not saying "THAT" line. Excuse me please, I have to go call my Mom.

Answer: Simon Birch

Simon Birch is played by Ian Michael Smith. Simon and Joe, played by Joseph Mazzello, are growing up, they have so much fun playing ball and swimming or just hanging out together. Until that fateful day when Joe's mom walked into the ballpark. Oh, the way that poor Simon must have felt. Brings tears to my eyes when he says "I'M SORRY!" Little Simon had to go through life knowing that he hurt his true friend and he felt horrible about it too. God did have a purpose for Simon, he saved numerous lives in the busing accident. "Simon Birch" is one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. Where is my Kleenex?

Answer: Rudy

Rudy is just a little runt that wants to play football. Not just anywhere either, he wants to play at Notre Dame. He struggles through his college years and finally gets to be part of the team. The last game of the year, Rudy is allowed to get dressed, which means that he can go out on the field, but be a bench warmer only. I sat in tears as each member of the team gave their shirts for Rudy to wear.

But the biggest tears came when Rudy was allowed to play for only a short moment, but it made history at Notre Dame. Excuse me, I can't finish. Take a breath... ok, he sacked the quarterback and yes, Notre Dame won the game.

But it was the first and last time that a player was carried off the field. I can't handle this quiz, it's too hard on me and my eyes!

Answer: Brian's Song

This tag team of James Caan and Billy Dee Williams was so well cast. They didn't even appear that they were acting. They both had such a friendship between them. Brian Piccolo was dying from cancer, a cancer that had spread to his lungs. Gale Sayers and Brian held their friendship and humor throughout the turmoil. Brian once told Gale that he knew what was wrong with him. Brian said "I'm pregnant." I only wish Gale would have asked him, "is it mine?"
Brian, we miss you, the Bears miss you and yes Gale misses you too!

Answer: Message in a Bottle

This ultimate casted movie had me going throughout the entire length of the film. Kevin Costner's life was over when he lost his wife Catherine, two years earlier. He finally decides to move on, live the rest of his new life with Robin Wright Penn. That is, until the dreaded boating accident.

This was a heart-wrenching movie. It was so sad, you wanted him to go on with his life with Robin. They were made for each other. When he dies at the end, your life stops! It was so heartbreaking.

Answer: Ghost

This twosome, Demi and Swayze, really work well together. You add a little Whoopi and you've got a "sleeper" hit. When Swayze gives Demi the penny "for good luck" and you see the tears coming down her face. You just lose it. When Whoopi allows Patrick to bring his soul inside of her.

The touching is so soft and so romantic, you forget for a moment that it's actually Whoopi touching Demi.

Richard Dreyfuss, plays Pete, a pilot who is totally in love with Holly Hunter. Holly, who plays Dorinda, adores her pilot as well. A bad day, gone haywire, costs Pete his life. He comes back to Holly, but as an angel. Dorinda doesn't want to go on, can't go on anymore without Pete. Of course, Pete can't say goodbye either. One day Pete realizes that he has to say goodbye, he has to move on, he opens the doors of new love to walk into Dorinda's heart. I can only imagine the feelings that Pete had at this time. Saying goodbye to someone you love so much.

The hardest thing to do in a lifetime is to say "Goodbye."

Answer: Saving Private Ryan

I remember the one and only one time I saw this movie. I just sat in tears from the first part with D-Day and the bodies being blown away from the first moment of this film. I could not imagine this day. I cannot imagine what this day was like for the men that survived this horrible day.
I couldn't watch this movie a second time. The first part of this film will forever be in my memory. I hope and pray to God that I never have to see my sons live through anything like this.
