Ali won an Oscar for his role as Actor in a Supporting Role of Dr. Shirley. He's not new to winning awards. He also won an Oscar two years earlier for "Moonlight".

I feel that Ali played the role of Dr. Shirley impeccably. He had me believe that he not only was a beautiful and esteemed gentleman, but had me believing that this was the first time he ever ate fried chicken.

Dr. Shirley was born in Florida in 1927. He not only played piano, but played jazz and classical music, as well.

Supposedly when Frank Anthony (Tony) Vallelonga was younger, he could talk anyone into doing anything. Thus earning the nickname of "the Lip". I would have thought he didn't take any 'lip' from anyone, but internet doesn't agree with that thought.

Nathan's Hot Dogs has a hot dog eating contest every single year. The most hot dogs ever eaten was by Joey Chestnut. He ate an amazing 73 dogs.

In the movie, Viggo had quite an appetite himself. Eating pizza, fish and other foods. The hot dog contest, he could only eat 15. Pretty good record for a newbie, if you ask me.

Tony was always eating food. He would order his pizza, fold it in half, and shove it in his mouth. Supposedly Viggo would eat so much on the set that he always went back to his trailer, undo his belt and lay down. Poor guy, I wonder how much weight he gained making this movie?

Some great songs came from the movie, "South Pacific" including, "I'm gonna wash that man right outta my hair" and others. Juanita Hall sings the song so beautifully, France Nuyen hand motions the "Happy Talk". So cute that you have to watch it one day. One of my favorite parts of the movie. So I was thrilled to hear Don Shirley playing the song in the movie.

When someone has a favorite, you do your best to get it. There was one place where Dr Shirley was due to play and the piano was far from a Steinway. This is where Tony the Lip protected him, if the piano was not replaced, they would leave with no concert. The piano was replaced and it's amazing what people will do when you give them ultimatums.

The trio was a beautiful, class act with George, who was the bassist and Oleg who was the cello playing gentleman and of course, Dr. Shirley playing the piano. All three made it work to sound beautiful.

Dimiter Marinov played the role of Oleg who has been playing the violin since a small child.

George was played by Mike Hatton. Mike has been in a hand full of movies until this movie in 2018.

The book was written by Victor Hugo Green. It was more of a guide for the black people when they drove across the United States. It told you where you could stay, eat and other important pieces of trivia to avoid a conflict with the white communities.

Viggo did an amazing job in his role of Tony, and he did earn himself a nomination but didn't win the Oscar. The movie, "Green Book" won the Oscar for the Motion Picture of the Year and for the great reason, it deserved it!

Mahershala Ali did win for his role as Dr. Shirley, in a Supporting Role. Both gentlemen were amazing.
