Paul Robeson was a popular African/American actor and singer, most famous for singing "Ol' Man River" in the 1936 film "Show Boat". "Song of Freedom" was released in the same year but did not do as well in the box office. It told of Zinga, a dissatisfied opera singer who eventually returned to his roots on an African island called Casanga.
2. "The Curse of Frankenstein" (1957) was a Hammer Horror film that starred which famous actor as The Creature?

Answer: Christopher Lee

Christopher Lee was well known for playing Count Dracula in several films, but it was in "The Curse of Frankenstein" that we saw him bring The Creature to life. The story told of Baron Frankenstein, an inventor who experimented with body parts from dead people to make a living human.

Not only was Lee noted for playing villains in films such as Scaramanga in "The Man with the Golden Gun", he was also a classically trained opera singer and had several albums to his name.

Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee became the best of friends after they starred together in a number of Hammer Horror productions. His character in "Dracula" (1958) was that of Doctor Van Helsing, the man who spent an endless amount of time and energy trying to rid the world of vampires by placing a stake through their heart.

The film was based on the 1897 book by Bram Stoker. Cushing's acting career slowed down after the death of his wife in 1971, and he was known for saying, "Since Helen passed on I can't find anything; the heart, quite simply, has gone out of everything."

"The Hound of the Baskervilles" was the name of a book written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle which was first published in 1902. It featured our favourite sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, as he followed the case of the giant hound at Baskerville Hall, the dead body of Sir Baskerville and a family curse. Peter Cushing played Holmes in the 1959 film version, with André Morell as Doctor Watson and Christopher Lee as Sir Henry Baskerville.

Written by French author, Gaston Leroux, "The Phantom of the Opera" was made into a film version in 1962 starring Herbert Lom as The Phantom. The Czech-born film actor was also known for his portrayal as the hapless Chief Inspector Dreyfus in the "Pink Panther" series of films.

"She" (1965) starred Peter Cushing and Bernard Cribbins alongside Ursula Andress in the lead role. Two explorers and their servant came across a lost city in Africa called Kuma, ruled by the beautiful and immortal Ayesha. An uprising by tribal slaves and a fight for immortality by her evil chief priest led to the downfall and eventual death of "She Who Must Be Obeyed". Ursula Andress was better known as the Bond girl walking out of the sea in the 1962 film "Dr No".

The film starred Raquel Welch as Loana who was part of the Shell tribe, and John Richardson as Tumak from the Rock tribe. Together with their tribes, they survived many dangers including Brontosaurus, Archelon, Triceratops and an exploding volcano. The advertising slogan which appeared for the film was "See Raquel Welch in mankind's first bikini!"

"On The Buses" was a 1971 film which was spawned from a television series that aired from 1969 to 1973. Using the same actors in their lead roles, the cast also included Doris Hare as mum, Anna Karen as Olive and the unforgettable Stephen Lewis as the hapless Inspector Blake.

The story line involved the various mishaps and adventures of Stan and Jack who served as driver and conductor on the buses.

Cybill Shepherd was an American actress, known for her film and television appearances in "Taxi Driver", "Moonlighting" and "Psych". In "The Lady Vanishes", she played heiress Amanda Metcalf-Midvani-Von Hoffsteader-Kelly who was travelling by train through Bavaria when one of her fellow travellers disappeared.

This film was a remake of the 1938 classic directed by Alfred Hitchcock which starred Margaret Lockwood in the lead role.

Hammer Horror stopped producing films during the 1980s and 1990s. The company was taken over in the late 2000s and one of the films to come out of the new management was the 2012 film "The Woman in Black". Daniel Radcliffe played Arthur Kipps, a lawyer employed to visit an old house to sort out the papers left by the dead owner, not knowing at the time that the house was haunted by a female apparition in black.
