Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This gorefest is about a group of teens that get sliced and diced by a maniac in a water park. What is the name of this 2019 Canadian slasher?

Answer: Aquaslash

A killer sets up a sharp, deadly trap inside the water slide tunnel. When the party loving teens go through the slide completely unaware of what awaits, they get sliced up into pieces on the way down! The pool at the bottom turns blood red with random body parts floating around. Pretty gruesome!
2. This 2018 British horror film is about a cursed red dress that brings death to its owners. Name this unusual film.

Answer: In Fabric

'In Fabric' is a bit of an unusual horror film. The scenes seem almost dream-like at times. Sheila is the first among several victims who are tormented by a beautiful red, silky dress that she finds in a London department store at the start of the film. The dress is cursed and at times come alive to spread its evil. This unique film is written and directed by Peter Strickland.
3. The year 1988 has this flick about some suburban women who one day all start having a major craving for humans. Which one of these forgotten gems am I referring to?

Answer: Flesh Eating Mothers

This '80s flick is about the women in a small town who mysteriously become cannibalistic fiends after they all commit adultery with a man who spreads a virus to them. This virus gives them the uncontrollable urge to want to murder and eat their own children! While the film does have that cheesy feel like a lot of films from the 1980s, it does have its moments of mindless entertainment!
4. In the 1972 film titled 'Beware! The Blob', a fly lands on the killer blob only to be sucked down and eaten. Who becomes the blob's next victim?

Answer: Samuel

Poor little Samuel! The adorable kitten is eating his dinner after Marianne opens a can of food for him, and meanwhile the blob is escaping from a sample thermos that is on the counter after being taken out of the freezer. After devouring Samuel, the blob goes on a rampage consuming other victims.

This film is a sequel to the original 1958 film, 'The Blob'. 'Dallas' star Larry Hagman directs this obscure flick.
5. What is the name of the vampire assistant in the 1985 film 'Fright Night'?

Answer: Billy

Billy Cole is the roommate and assistant to Jerry Dandrige, who is indeed a murderous vampire. Jerry moves into the house next door to teen Charley Brewster, who is always snooping on Jerry and strongly suspects that Jerry is not human. No one believes him of course, so he begs horror actor Peter Vincent to help him slay Jerry and put a stop to the mayhem! Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall) is known to his fans as "The Great Vampire Killer", but since it's just a character he plays in the movies, he refuses to help Charlie at first before finally deciding it's the right thing to do.

At times when the duo are on their quest to destroy Jerry, Billy is there as his protector to stop them! Charlie is played by William Ragsdale, Jerry is played flawlessly by Chris Sarandon, and his assistant Billy is played by Jonathan Stark.

This film spawned two sequels and a 2011 remake that stars Colin Farrell.
6. Libby isn't at all comfortable with her mother Michelle's new boyfriend John. In fact... she flat out doesn't trust him! He's very bizarre in the sense that he pops up at the oddest times, plus there was that time he walked out to the middle of the lake, then disappeared. What's even weirder is when Libby saw him again a minute later... he was completely dry! Michelle has no clue that her and her daughter could be in a lot of danger! What is the title of the film I'm describing?

Answer: What Lies Below

This 2020 film which stars Mena Suvari, Ema Horvath, and Trey Tucker got lukewarm reviews from film critics, and pulled in a slight $21,567 at the box office mainly due to the pandemic. Suvari plays the role of Libby's mother Michelle, who is very excited about her new relationship with John. Libby goes to stay with her mom at their family lake house unaware of her mother's new relationship, as well as the fact that John is already there with Michelle.

At first, she seems to be a bit enamored by him, until she starts to notice very strange things! He's not at all as he seems, and it's worse than Libby ever imagined!
7. 'Not all the evil is on Elm Street...' and 'This Thanksgiving, "it's not cranberry sauce," are taglines to which one of these films?

Answer: Blood Rage

'Blood Rage' is one of those '80s horror slashers that I never get tired of. Released in 1987, it isn't one of the more well known horror films of that decade, but to an avid horror fan it can be quite entertaining! Twin brothers Terry and Todd are at the drive-in with their mother (played by Louise Lasser) and her date. Terry kills a man ruthlessly, then hands the weapon to his brother Todd who winds up getting sent to a mental institution for ten years.

He manages to escape, and soon the killings start! The plot takes place during Thanksgiving, which makes sense of the cranberry sauce tagline.
8. Which one of these actors/actresses is the common denominator among the films 'Ouija' (2014), 'The Midnight Man' (2016), Grace: The Possession' (2014), '2001 Maniacs' (2005), and 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' (1984)?

Answer: Lin Shaye

Actress Lin Shaye has definitely earned her spot as a certified scream queen in the horror genre! She has been in countless films of all different genres, but it's most especially horror films that fans most recognize her. She plays the role of Nancy's teacher in 'A Nightmare on Elm Street', Granny Boone in '2001 Maniacs', a psychic named Elise Rainier in the 'Insidious" film franchise as well as many others.
9. What is the 1977 movie 'Shock Waves' about?

Answer: Zombies

Definitely a forgotten gem, the 1977 film 'Shock Waves' is about Nazi zombies that were created to be unstoppable soldiers that could survive water and land. Turns out this idea fails due to the fact that the zombies could not fully be controlled and they started turning on their own team of soldiers.

They are able to walk together along the ocean floor as well as emerging to land to stalk their victims. This classic obscure film stars Peter Cushing, Brooke Adams, and John Carradine.
10. This 2021 slasher is a sequel to a 2018 film as well as a second sequel to a 1978 classic. It features a notorious iconic killer who makes his way through his hometown of Haddonfield after escaping a fire and goes on a killing spree! What is the name of this much anticipated film among horror fans?

Answer: Halloween Kills

David Gordon Green directs this brutal sequel that takes place immediately from the 2018 film 'Halloween'. Michael Myers murders his way through Haddenfield once again while a vigilante mob of town residents are on a mission to destroy the legendary killer.

Some characters from the original 1978 film star, as well as Jamie Lee Curtis reprising her role as Laurie Strode. 'Halloween Kills' pulled in more than a whopping $250 million worldwide while simultaneously streaming on the Peacock network.
