Bill Murray plays Phil Conner, a caustic sarcastic TV weather man covering Groundhog Day events in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, but finds himself in a time loop forcing him to repeat the same day over and over. Each morning his clock/radio awakens him to Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe". Briefly, he emerges as a better man.
2. The Longest Day (1962)

Klaatu has visited the Earth to warn of dangers in the future for the Earth if attitudes and actions didn't change. The phase refers to instructions to his robot to take revenge is he is harmed or killed. "Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!" became a catch phase generally used in the context of frustration.
4. Bad Day at Black Rock (1955)

Answer: Spencer Tracy

Spencer Tracy gives one of his finest performances as a one-armed war veteran dealing with prejudice and deception in the remote village of Black Rock. His efforts to find his old buddy from World War II are impeded by town 'baddies' played by Robert Ryan, Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine. Essentially, the rest of the town have been compromised. Spencer Tracy was reluctant to accept the part but under threat of a law suit and being replaced by Alan Ladd, he submitted.

The film resulted in Academy Award nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role, Spencer Tracy; Best Director, John Sturges; Best Writing, Screenplay, Millard Kaufman; 1956.

It has a 97% Rotten Tomatoes rating and is an example of a film noir western.
5. One Fine Day (1996)

"For the First Time" was nominated but did not win. However, the main theme "One Fine Day" was written by Carole King in 1963 and first recorded by The Chiffons and was one of the top songs of 1963. The film "One Fine Day" starred Michelle Pfeiffer and George Clooney as divorced working parents who meet in this enjoyable romantic comedy.
6. The Remains of the Day (1993)

Up against stiff opposition, "The Remains of the Day" was nominated for eight Academy Awards but won none. Yet, it has retained a Rotten Tomato 97% rating. Much of he film's plot deals with the repressed affection and respect between the butler (Anthony Hopkins) and the housekeeper (Emma Thompson). James Ivory directed in cooperation with his producer, Ismail Merchant, and screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. "A Room with a View" (1985) and "Howard's End" (1992) were other esteemed productions.
7. Day of the Jackal (1973)

Answer: Charles de Gaulle

"Day of the Jackal" was based on the novel of the same name by Frederick Forsyth. Edward Fox plays the 'Jackal', a hired assassin, commissioned to kill Charles de Gaulle. The film was much praised for its film editing, that comes off, according to one reviewer, like a stop watch. It had a great influence on assassination films that followed. Rotten Tomatoes found it 90% fresh.
8. A Hard Day's Night (1964)

Answer: The Beatles

The initial commercial goal was to exploit and capitalize on the popularity of the Beatles. It was filmed on a short schedule and budget and rushed to theaters. "Time Magazine" included it as one of the best hundred films of the century. Among its influences were spy films, the Monkees' television show, and pop music videos.
9. On A Clear Day You Can See Forever (1970)

Barbra Streisand on film reprised Barbara Harris' Broadway characterization of Daisy Gamble, a woman who has ESP and has been reincarnated. The film had a wide variety of critical reviews but none very decisive. The film succeeds mainly as a Streisand vehicle that overcome long dull periods between musical numbers.
10. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014)

Answer: Judith Viorst

Judith Viorst's 1972 novella for children was brought to the screen in 2014. Its box office was nearly four times its cost. It is a film designed for children and an adult would best take a child with them. Viorst is primarily a writer of children's books but has also been a political activist and was part of a movement refusing to pay taxes during the Vietnam conflict.

He learns that everyone can have a bad day. Steve Cabell and Jennifer Garner star.
