Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of the school that the main characters in this film attend?

Answer: Ithaca University

Josh, Beth, E.L., Rubin, Kyle, and Barry all attend Ithaca University. Given Barry's lengthy enrollment at Ithaca, he's something of an expert on its campus and culture. The university itself is fictional, although there is an Ithaca College.
2. The main protagonist, Josh, is frustrated that he has been unable to reach his longtime girlfriend Tiffany, and her roommate's repeated curt responses to his calls get him wondering if she's lost interest in him. Where does Tiffany go to school?

Answer: Texas

Barry begins the story of the guys' cross-country odyssey by talking about Josh and Tiffany's lifelong friendship-turned-romance, and how it was tested when Josh went to Ithaca and Tiffany went to veterinary school in Austin. Like Ithaca University, the University of Austin is fictional, but the scenes taking place there were shot at the similarly-named University of Texas at Austin.
3. Whose car do the friends drive on the first leg of the trip?

Answer: Kyle

Josh and E.L. persuade Kyle to let them borrow the car by offering to let him tag along on the trip. The car was a light blue Ford Taurus, which wound up getting destroyed when the boys attempted a jump over a broken bridge in a rural area of Pennsylvania.
4. Which comedic actor had a cameo as the desk clerk at the hotel Josh and his friends stayed at after their car broke down?

Answer: Andy Dick

Andy Dick played the deadpan front desk employee who enjoyed watching Bob Ross. Known for his run-ins with the law as much as for his acting, some of Dick's other credits include "NewsRadio", "Family Guy" and "Zoolander".
5. When E.L. attempts to "borrow" a bus from the Bedford School for the Blind in the guise of performing maintenance, what fictional part does he say the bus is having a problem with?

Answer: Rotator splint

The woman at the desk skeptically replies, "Engines have rotator splints?" But she ultimately lets E.L. take the bus, but not before chastising him for feeding candy to her service dog and lying about it.
6. Meanwhile, back in Ithaca, Beth goes to Josh's dorm looking for him and finds Barry trying to feed Ruben's pet snake, Mitch. Barry inadvertently sends Beth on a wild goose chase looking for Josh in what city?

Answer: Boston, MA

Beth asks Barry where Josh is, and he tells her that Josh went to see his girlfriend in "Austin... Austin, Massachusetts?" To which Beth replies, "You mean Boston." She then embarks on a bus trip to Boston to confront Josh and confess to Tiffany that Josh had cheated on her.
7. The boys stop to crash at the house of a fraternity which Ruben claims to be a member of. What is the name of the fraternity?

Answer: Xi Chi

Ruben gains entry for the group by demonstrating their secret handshake, but once they enter the house, it becomes clear that Xi Chi is a fraternity for Black students, and naturally they know Ruben is lying about being a member. Thankfully, the Xi Chi brothers are good sports about the whole thing and provide the guys with dinner, partying, and a place to stay.
8. Director Todd Phillips has a cameo in the film in what role?

Answer: A bus passenger

Phillips plays a man on the bus Beth rides back to Ithaca from Boston, who has a creepy fixation with feet and tries to lick her toes while she's napping. Beth wakes up and exasperatedly yells, "Are there any guys out there who are just normal?"
9. On the way back from Austin, Josh is struggling to cram for his philosophy exam. Ruben offers to help him, using what sport as an analogy to help Josh relate to the material?

Answer: Wrestling

Ruben describes Socrates as "The Vince McMahon of philosophy. He started it all." Vince McMahon began his long career in professional wrestling as an in-ring announcer and promoter, then inherited his father's wrestling empire. He was responsible for recruiting the legendary Hulk Hogan as well as the naming of the company as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).
10. When it doesn't look like Josh is going to make it back in time for the final, what does Beth do to buy him a little extra time?

Answer: She calls in a bomb threat.

Josh is duly impressed by Beth's efforts (although they'd have gotten her in some SERIOUS trouble these days). Once the building is cleared and the threat called off, Josh takes his final and receives a passing grade, allowing him to stay in school.
